  1. City is still asking us to stay off the river.
  2. Watching this on global news. Nothing has spilled as yet but the potential is huge, these are massive diesel cars. ----------- CALGARY – Calgary Police, EMS and fire crews are investigating the structural failure of the Bonnybrook train bridge over the Bow River. Officials say the bridge in Ogden is compromised and failing, and warn it is in danger of collapsing. There are five train cars on the bridge, and there are fears that the structural damage could cause it to fall into the water – or that its cargo could leak. ----------------- If this spill happens they could not contain it by booms, water is too high.
  3. Wonderful find, I'll give you 2 Toonies for it.
  4. We are lucky we are in Hawkwood and nice and high. We are hosting 12 people who have been evacuated from the Dwontown are mostly.
  5. We have 19 friends staying with us, scooped them up one by one and as couples from the downtown last night. Full house now. Everyone please keep safe out there.
  6. I've always loved catching bass on poppers. It can be lots of fun with surface action if they are interested. But streamers like clouser minnow’s work well. Local fly shops should be able to give you tips on colors etc.
  7. A few BWO's in size #20
  8. Gonna slip them a Mickey, Mickey finn that is.
  9. I was walking up a small stream in the north part of the province. As I studied the water I noticed a very nice hatch starting upstream of my tail water position. It was a host of flies all sitting prettily on the film. Non where near my position but I counted three dozen various dries that I could see. About an hour later I caught up with a very disappointed young guy with an empty box dangling from a lanyard whose hatch it was. I left him with a dozen of my own flies so his would continue but I often wonder how far those dries floated (paddle to the sea) and wonder if they sparked any interest. The longer you spend in the field the more interesting things you see.
  10. I also love the Brodin Ghost nets. I lost one on the bow last year and had to buy another. Picked mine up at Country pleasures but other shops may have them (have my name on it now). I have the “Gallitin” model which has a 8.75" by 17.25" hoop and can easily hold a 27” fish. Another option is to buy a ghost net insert for your existing net. What I’ve found in the positive about this type of net. Doesn’t catch when walking through the bush like a classic net Sheds water fast so it doesn’t wick on your back Hooks don’t imbed in the material I find fish calmer in the net than with course material against them Doesn’t harm the outer protective coat on trout like a thread based product

  15. With so many people in the NW sounds like we need a tying night in the NW thsi winter.
  16. Use a loop to loop connector big enough to go through the indicator. That way you don't have to retie them.
  17. Been using this also, works nice
  18. Seldom and mostly along small creeks that are tight with trees.
