Dubbing machines have been around for a while now. I have tried that model and it wold be great if you where a production tier running masses of dubbing brushes. There are manual dubbing brushes that work as well. A nor-vice is slick also for doing it but so will a dubbing whirler, even a paper clip works great on a dubbing loop. Depends how much you love gadgets.

The trout in that area are very structure oriented, find the structure and find fish. This will change as the flood rearranges everything.

The Umpqua hook box's are the ticket for a box that won't migrate hooks, well sealed all aground, I have a few, they come in single row and double row. I use them for small trout hooks, for Steehead salmon hooks I use standard compartment boxes and magnets.

Get magnetic strips that are sticky on one side and cut them to fit the bottom of the trays

Sorry Conner, I didn't notice your post. I use the standard hackle trimmed flush for most BWO patterns, I like the profile it makes in the water. I also use snow shoe for matching other hatches along with parachutes for other pattern imitations.

Microwaving and freezing can be iffy. Moth balls works best. If I get in any tying supplies that look questionable I usually was it in soapy water. and dry out with a hair drier. another good addition is get a flea and tick collar the plastic kind, cut em up and put them in the bags with your capes etc.

The traditional thorax style tends to have the hackle wound slightly back from the front of the hook to the third point. The Hackle also is wound slightly farther along the hook shank. The traditional is 5 turns, it tend to be 8. It is also "clipped" flat on the lower part of the fly. Jim McLennan turned me on to that style of fly many years ago. Hope this helps.

Take the cape out of it's plastic hang it some where and and air it out for a while, it should lessen the smell. I get the odd cape like that but it dosn't bother me, all my capes are in the same drawer of the roll top. The way I figure it it helps keep the bugs off my other capes.

Thorax style work great on the Bow and other areas in Alberta. Quick and easy to tie too.

I find them extremely helpful in the summer, rocks can get really slick with various weeds and growth. Studs and a wading staff has saved this old bugger many a fall.

I have the ones one the right on my boots.

For Steelhead I do a lot of 7's and 4's for my clients in BC and the US. For my personal use I do like 7's.

polar bear has an incredible sheen, makes great streamers. I add it of dubbing for great depth to bodies.

At the same time do yourself a favor and buy a case for both the rod and reel, sure saves headaches.

Are you sayig the Bass Pro shop net is the same quality as the Brodin Ghost nets?

I was using my 4 wt. Meiser, Bob makes a phenomenal rod. Pav, I did get a heart stopping tail walk out of the fish. Had to jump start this 61 year old heart after with a wee dram o" scotch.

Could not have gotten it even this close without the Spey rod. Close to three quarter of an hour after he nailed the bugger. Out to the backing so I could see my reel seat 3 times. Hook straightened out after the shot. He was a couple of feet longer than my Meiser.
