  1. Those are actual prices that some people want for out of print books. Check around with local flyshops first.
  2. The last 2 Pflueger's I bought had a spare plastic piece and spring in the same bag as the tool you use when changing the retrieve to a different hand.
  3. My suggestion would be to learn a few basic casts on your single handed rod or on someone else's setup first. The TFO Deer Creek sells a lot of setups here because it is less expensive than most brands, and can be easily setup for fishing the Bow. Both The Fishin Hole and Fish Tales carry the rod, but when I bought my rod Fish Tales also had some experienced spey casters to help set up the rod.
  4. I bought the same setup just after Gordon's school in September (Gordon: that shop should be sponsoring you given that there was at least 4 sales of spey rods within days of your school ). I've had good results fishing a streamer with a 5 to 10 ft sinking leader with four or five feet of tippet, depending on how deep I was fishing on the Bow. The sinking leaders I bought had loops at both ends to make it easy to change leaders. 5. Headed to the Vancouver area for work for the next month or so, does anybody have any recommendations of places to go for some good fishing nearby, or websites I can look up more info on? The Pitt river looks nice for a guided trip, but is a bit expensive. Also, I'm looking for a store that carries aluminum rod tubes, anybody have ideas? The new Deer Creek spey rod I picked up is nice, but probably wouldn't survive the trip in one of the flimsy plastic ones if I have to ship or fly it.
  6. Instead of a FFC toque, how about you just go for a hard hat?
  7. Nice pics! The Pflueger reel is nice too, picked one up during the sale at the fishin hole.
  8. Gas prices will eventually rebound though; if there's no nuclear power for the oilsands the producers don't have much choice in other fuels to use to get the oil out anyways. There's also more natural gas power plants being built or planned out east, so a lower price now should ensure many of the projects will see construction.
  9. Carl Spackler has his work cut out for him today!
  10. It took me a few views to decide, great work by both.
  11. I'm sure a few computer shops around would be more than happy to let you have some used ones. (static bags, that is)
  12. 25% off fly tying stuff, so I grabbed some of that. Didn't seem to be any of the higher end rods with a discount, though. They do have alot of extra staff hanging around to help out, too.
  13. How about an official FFC measuring tape?
  14. Congrats! You should have known Murphy was gonna strike when you tried to time it for the end of the fishing season!
  15. I haven't had much time to try different ones out, so this is it for now:
  16. The surgery for a sense of humour wasn't covered by Alberta Health? (j/k, probably the best so far)
  17. Glad to hear it went well, make sure you let your employer know that you'll need extra time for Bow therapy!
  18. Looks 1,000,000,000 times better than my first attempt.
  19. They might wanna change the name though.
  20. ACDC Razor's Edge tour, Neil Young back in 1995 or 96, and the Allman Brothers in that same time frame.
  21. The Hip Live Between Us and QOTSA Songs for the Deaf on the way there, Barney Bentall Gift Horse or some older Neil Young on the way back. I usually just hook up the MP3 player in random mode and let it rip, though.
  22. Some excellent information in there, especially on how spooky some fish can be.
