Your right, I tried to fish one a month or so ago and it wouldnt sink at all. I think there was to much deer hair and was packed to tight.

I always stand and watch people cast but just dont have the nerve to get up and try it at the show...

@ seand the head on that fly looks good man, I hear you though. Im the same with deer hair, regardless of whether the fly works or not its always a looks thing for me lol! Try tying the Circus Peanut, pretty much the same fly just a different head material. That video that was posted above is awesome, theres about twenty done the same way, its how I learn his patterns and the vids are awesome, I love the music and how they are presented.

Ive never walked and or waded for pike and dont have a boat anymore so I see no other choice. Is it worth it and do you have any ideas on places that are better than others for fishing from shore or wading?

Just great looking, I always left there feeling like i didnt know what the hell I was doing, which may very well be true the funny thing is (like you said) I kept convincing myself that because it looked so awesome i would go back and give it another try... ive caught 2 fish out of that stream, in total

For someone that never fished TFO I have three of them! Lefty Sig Series 5w which feels like a 6w plus i bought the BVK 5w 8'6 last season. Im regretting selling that Sage One, I felt regret the second the guy drove away with it.

Its the other way around anyone can catch a fish, not anyone can go out and play golf go easy fellas, just saying lol!!! I love both but would take golf without hesitation lol!! The good thing about fishing is that it never ends, if your not on the water your at home tying flies (at least I am) One other thing, golf can be very stressful were as fishing typically never is, unless you fall down a hill and rip your waders lol!!

Glamorgan is right in the middle of the city man IMO, glenmore, crowchild, sarcee and deerfoot are all a nightmare to travel on if your trying to get somewhere. If your looking for close to the river and other destinations extreme south is the way to go. Like troutlover said, 25 mins (without traffic) just to get to the south end. My family and I moved for that exact reason.

Bought a 5w BVK last year and think it works great. Ive always been one of those guys that by high end stuff up until a couple years ago when life changed and I just cant afford it anymore. Everything is made on a machine these days and mass produced so IMO it doesn't matter what name is on it anymore unless you've made a customer order.

Just learning myself, I find the weave to be frustrating tension and material are your factors, the material you use can make easier or harder. I gave up three times in the past lol, this time I managed to hang in there long enough to get the basic weave down anyways!

Bead Head Hares Ear Nymph is about as easy and effective as they come. IMO size 12 is to big so i go mainly 14's and 16's.

That Clouser Minnow you tied up will work around here as well. I have limited Streamer fishing experience but have caught a couple fish on the Bow with a white one. Try tying a Pheasant Tail Soft Hackle, it was an amazing fly for me this past season...after the flood and all!
