  1. I spoke with Ed about it last night. We were thinking Saturday looks good for the demo. I'll try and confirm the final details this evening.
  2. It was a fun day on the water. Thanks again to Scott and Gordon for the great Spey school. The MacKenzie dtx rods are awesome. I especailly loved the 8130 what a sweeeeet stick! A few pics... photo's by: bhurt
  3. Big thanks to Scott for coming too Calgary and giving us great Speycasting demonstration. Lots of fun playing with these terrific new rods/lines and a good turnout. Looking forward too tommorows Spey school with Scott and Gordon.
  4. Got the opportunity to cast a couple of the new Scott MacKenzie DTX Spey rods this weekend. (thanks to Speyghillie) Beautifull rods... Fast action and powerfull. Simply awesome! Scott will be giving a free Spey casting demonstration this evening, at the Southland Pedestrian bridge, starting at 6:00pm. Everyone is welcome to come down too meet Scott, watch his Spey casting demonstration and try out his new rods/lines. Hope to see you down there. Greg
  5. Gorgeous Broon, Peter. Thanks for the pic.
  6. Was down at Carseland last summer with my brother when a dark storm front approached around 7:00pm one evening. We decided to wait till a few raindrops hit before we booked it too the truck (the bite was on). Suddenly, my brother starts getting shocks from his rod and drops it. He picks it up again and gets another shock. We ran like hell...
  7. Have a great Birthday, Ron!
  8. Nice...Looking forward to casting them. Thanks for the update.
  9. I don't know of any plans to shoot film this time through town. Ed will be able to answer any of your questions about his upcoming dvd, when he gets too Calgary in a couple of weeks time.
  10. We will wait to see how the weather shapes up on the weekend of the 16/17th, to decide the best date/time. We're thinking probably Sunday the 17th, if the weather co-operates.
  11. Here's my perspective, Birchy...Take the hit and walk away. Life's too short and there's no pot of gold at the end of that rainbow. It sucks, but it could be worse. Go fishin'...be happy!
  12. Otters are cool... There's little to be concerned about. As an old trapper myself back in the day, caution is advised around Otters, they can be pretty rough customers. Female Otters are weaning pups at this time of the season and can be very aggressive and territorial. I've been run off the beaver pond before.
  13. Birchy, you can probably order these books directly from the Mclennan Flyfishing site. http://mclennanflyfishing.com/mclennanbooks.htm
  14. Ed Ward will be coming too Calgary, in May and has agreed to give up a few hours of his time for a Skagit Casting presentation. It will most likely be held on either Saturday, May 16th or Sunday, May 17th. (T.B.A.) Ed is a legendary Skagit casting pioneer, Skagit casting instructor, Speyfishing Guide in the US Pacific NW and Head Guide at the Alaska West Fishing Lodge, on the famous Kanektok river. He is also one of the featured casting instructors on Rio's latest spey casting dvd, Rio's Modern Speycasting. This is a free presentation and all are invited to attend. Stay tuned for time/place and details. Cheers, Greg http://blog.deneki.com/2009/01/ed-wards-king-rig.html
  15. That's awesome. Thank you.
  16. I guess I should get this rolling. I'll get something up on the weekend. Now we need folks to help by donating items/services to auction off. Please send me a pm if you have anything to contribute to the StreamWatch auction. Our goal is to surpass last years total of $10,000, so dig deep and give with your heart. Cheers, Greg
  17. I've done lots of nymphing without indicators, often in the dark. High sticking at night will really force you into paying attention to your other senses.
  18. hahahaha.... Yeah, that broonie sure gets around. Great vid Jay. Thanks!
  19. Have a great one, Brett. We'll see ya soon.
  20. Congrats on your first fly caught Bull, Terrance.

  22. What a little baby...ooohhh it's too cold too fish today, oohhh it's too windy to fish today...ooohhh it's too sunny to fish today. ...Tungsten stole my avatar...Quit yer whinin' and man up Birchy. It's pretty obvious you're a Caper'. (Cape Breton) Isn't that where the leper colony was set up when your ancestors arrived...?
