  1. Where have all the Speycasters gone? Some of them have gone fishing! Dutchie and I were out with the two handers on the Bow today... Here's a little fish porn for ya Gordon, so you can see all the fun you are missing. Dutchie lands a nice buck... Then I got the hen... Gorgeous Rainbow...
  2. I had a great time this afternoon. Thanks to everyone for coming out and we'll see you again next time.
  3. Happy Birthday Clive, Many thanks for all of your contributions to our fly fishing waters and community. I'd write a list but it would be hundreds of pages and a life time long. The fishies also thank you. Greg
  4. Looks like we will have a big turn out, with about 20 people already confirming that they will be attending, so far. It's going to be a Spey party! Spread the word...
  5. We usually wrap it up around 5:00 pm. I think there will be a good turn out and it's always a lot of fun.
  6. We'll be hitting the Bow again this Sunday afternoon, April 10, to play with the Spey/Switch rods/lines. We'll be on river left (east side), across from the Fish Creek Boat Launch, starting around 1:00pm. (just upstream of 22x bridge) These informal Spey gatherings are a lot of fun and a great opportunity to try lots of different rod/line combo's and meet some of the nice folks in our Spey community...The weather forecast looks good... Everyone is welcome to join us... Hope to see you there. Greg
  7. Happy birthday buddy, I even got you a gift, a dozen shiny new worms for you to remember this special day. You can pick them up next time we hit the river. (hopefully soon!) Greg
  8. And, you can't spey cast with it? ... Worst rod design, ever.
  9. Yeah flyfishy, I think we're all have'in a bit of fun... You can come fish'in with me anytime, buddy... Rule #99 No bananas allowed in the boat...
  10. Tip #1.... Stay the hell out of the water... Myth #27... "small hook only catch the skin,nobone"... (poor presentation only catch the skin,nobone...)
  11. Good to hear that your first Spey outing was effective and fun. Were you swinging tips?
  12. Leaders/polyleaders typically run from 1x too 1.5x rod length depending on the size of fly, presentation, conditions ect. You can use both 10' or 14' polyleaders plus tippet, or tapered leaders in mono/fluro. Tapered mono leaders or floating PL's, can run up to 1.5x rod length, even a bit longer at times. At the shorter end of the spectrum, if you are using super fast sinking polyleaders and larger/heavier flys, a 10' PL with 3'-4' of tippet will give you more turn over power.
  13. That was a great day Lornce. As shown in the vid, you had some pretty spectacular Rainbows to hand. It was epic on the dryfly that afternoon as well. Dutchie almost had the biggest brown of the day, but that rookie lost it at the net... :$*%&: Then he blamed me for not netting it properly.
  14. Happy Birthday Lornce! Hope you're having a great day and thanks for the awesome fly's you have tied for me in the past year.
  15. Excellent ties and patterns, tgo.
  16. SOS Midge...very cool.... CDC Caddis are very effective on the Bow. ps. Bhurt sucks....hahahaha. Call me asap! NEED LEECHES!
  17. Great set up and as Mark mentioned, tapered running lines have a few uses, including nymphing or to lengthen an existing head, add extra grains ect., but not very useful for swing fishing with Skagit heads, in my experience.

I would have to agree somewhat, that body color seems to be of less importance with Caddis dry's than most anglers realize. Size, profile and presentation are much more important factors.
  19. Hey Gordon, well, the Expo was ok this year and it was great to chat with old friends and such, but ... it wasn't like the old days when there were Scotsman wearing Kilts and reeking of the Highlands finest, entertaining us for the weekend.
  20. Rene Harrop and Ken Morrish are a couple of my favorites.
  21. Love that film. I believe it is in Seoul, S. Korea.
  22. Happy Birthday Rick, hope you had a chance to catch a couple today.
