I really like the Winston GVX, great choice. Saw one at Troutfitters a while ago, 4 wt...almost came home with me. 2-3 years ago that would have been a $800 stick, now at just under 5...... I think you can get mullets on Ebay, in various lengths and colors....

The Sage VPS Light series are actually built on their original LL blanks.......introduced I think around 1996, 3 years after they cancelled the LL's The VPS Light rods have cheaper hardware than the LL's had, but the blank is the same...and today, one can find a minty VPS Light for far less than a LL...

I have a 389 LL, it's my favorite dry fly rod for the Liv, LDR and the Dogpound. It's a 2 piece graphite III....great rod. Dates from 1992.....

Bob, maybe the blog experts should come to you...! You got a gift man, thanks for sharing..... (the 'beer on ice' was most excellent, made me a wee bit thirsty)

I used ULS....best price of all the quotes I got. (Did not call Tree Frog though) I had large oversize poplars, way at the back of my yard. They had to haul the lumber to the front where the chipper was parked. Made it more expensive. But ULS came in 30% lower than everyone else and had the job done quickly, and even cleaned up the mess the chipper left. Ground the stumps the following week. Great job they did....

Tuc Swap Meet South Cal
aaa replied to fishinglibin's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
There will be a tackle swap for 2014. Others have stepped up to cover for Craig R. He has prepared a well orginised operating plan based on his many years of orginising this event, so the new volunteers will just follow his lead and do fine. The posters will be out in time for the FF Expo next year. It was a table sell out this year and people were still calling wanting tables on the day of the event. And yes, big kudos to Craig for orginising it for so many years! -
Welcome aboard!

1988 Olympics Anniversary
aaa replied to SilverDoctor's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Was working at International Jet Air Avitat up on Palmer Road in 1988. We, and the other FBO's on the airport took in almost 200 corporate jets on Friday Feb 12th, '88..... ABC alone brought in 3 Challengers just for their news/sports/tech people. Joan Lunden amongst them. Not a big deal, not really a Joan fan, we saw/met many celebs come through our facility in the years I worked there. But, she had her clothes packed in these two really heavy upright cardboard moving closets. They were so big they would only fit on the upper deck of the Challenger. Since ABC's people were busy unloading the high tech stuff out of the bellies, the flight crew asked us to help with Joan's closets. We did.....got the first one down halfway down the the airstair, while the other was manuevered into the doorway... Disaster, the guys pushing the one out of the doorway lost control of it in the doorway and it came toppling down the stairs, hammered into ours, and both ended up going end over end down the stairs and onto the ramp. Joan, who was sitting in the back of her limo talking on her cell phone (which was about the size of a WW2 walkie talkee) saw the whole thing and came storming out and boy was she pissed off. "Don't you idiots know this is a 3 week assignment and you just ruined all 21 of my outfits" Well, the one she was wearing still looked pretty good I said. -
X2 What Toirtis and Silverdoctor said, X3 WSS looks to revamping thier fly tying area, with some gaps on the wall and new hooks going in. Thier capes/saddles however, are behind the counter...
