No I haven't heard anything but I know some glues are not the healthiest items around. My comment/question is more food for thought than anything else. This can apply to anything we use to tie with really. The current issue of FlyTyer has an article on the subject on how healthy tying materials but it is more aimed at human health, but one miight also wonder how it affects fish caught and released too.
-
Just a thought, is gorilla glue toxic? Something to keep in mind when experimenting with new materials.

Video / Pic Editing Software For Newbies
Flytyer replied to Smitty's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
You may want to take a look at: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-pr...e-elements.html This bundle will probably work well for you once you get past the learning curve. Several wedding photographers have had great results with the Premiere Elements software for wedding video. The price is reasonable on this bundle too which is nice considering it's from Adobe -

Sweet looking flies Gary. Is the background a painting ?

If your just starting use regular salmon/steelhead hooks till you get to the point where you like them then use the iron/gut combo. I'm assuming you want these as more of a show fly than fishable ones?
-
Are you reffering to salmon flies or the the fly types that have leaders attached in the tying process? One advantage is that the leader, line and hook are more in a straight line and thus in theory should reduce drag on a drift

WESTERN CANADIAN FLY FISHING EXPO WORKSHOP PASS GIVEAWAY 1. Two passes to "Explore the Ritual of Building Fly Rods" - Host: Geoff Pieroway 2. Two passes to "Tropical Temptations" - Host: Terry Johnson About the Workshops "Explore the Ritual of Building Fly Rods" with Geoff Pieroway Workshop time: January 29th, 2012 (9:30am - 11:30am) Sponsored by: Pieroway Fly Rods This workshop is not just about rod assembly. Instead it looks deeply into how builders are using lathes to make truly customized reel seats and cork handles from exotic turning blocks and individual cork rings. During this two-hour session we'll skip over the science of graphite blanks and instead hone in on the artistry of constructing your own components to produce a completed personalized fly rod. Geoff will show you how to turn reel seat inserts, assemble unique checkerboard handles, wrap guides, inlay feathers & weaves and demonstrate how to produce that 'factory epoxy finish'. Armed with this knowledge he'll then discuss the repair and refurbishment of fly rods so that you can either get your favorite stick back in action or retire it to your wall of fame. "Tropical Temptations" with Terry Johnson Workshop time: January 28th, 2012 (2:30pm - 4:30pm) Sponsored by: Fish Tales Fly Shop Join Terry for this workshop focused on baitfish, crab, and shrimp patterns including his "10 x 10" and other personal favorites. Terry's a regular trip leader on fly fishing excursions to Cuba and has recently returned from Christmas Island. Visit www.flyfishingevents.com for more info on the Western Canadian Fly Fishing Exposition. Drawing to be held Tuesday January 17 @ 8PM. You may enter by replying to this thread. This draw is for BOTH sets of tickets.
