Thanks Brian for bringing up this point. I wanted to but I think it would have been inappropriate for me to do so because of my postion here. These fish that are on the bank are having some of there protective mucus removed from them which can be very harmful to the fish. So please don't post these type of photos anymore because in a sense you can be deemed as no better than the guy in the video.

If you can I'd stay with XP or my fav Mac. Used Vista while away on an assigment last summer and it was nothing but a PITA. Mac rules if you are heavy into graphics

You can also tie it on a size 16 scud hook....has a wide gape that many find helps hook ups.

Everybody seems to keep forgetting one important question. What do you want to tie most? This is what you have to base your decision on what you need to get.......you may not need what others have suggested right away.

Nothing really comes close to the real thing......the iridescense is difficult to duplicate.......I use the herl on smaller flies and i'll use the dubbing on the larger fliesto save time and add durabilty to the larger fly. If you spin the herl in a dubbing loop or twist nto your thread makes it very durable on smaller flies.

I was going back through some old posts and came across the flyfishing experience thread so I thought why not find out how much tying experience we have at the board here. I started when I was 9 and been tying for longer than alot of members here have been in this world. A long time for sure LOL

I'd like see someone tie this thing with the calf tail post ......never seen this before........I'll bet that the hook gape will not evenseen with this......in case you didn't know the hook point rides up on this style of fly.

now you are getting into policing areas that most of us are not qualified to answer as it would be speculating on the answer........there is nothing wrong with a guide taking friends out for a day or half day of fishing provided they are not being paid.......besides most friends wouldn't charge friends for this anyway

If any of the original tyers read this and want to they are more than welcome to. The intent of this is to pay tribute to these tyers and Neil for compiling the book that is very beneficial to ara tyers and fly anglers.

Brent what you are describing is cost sharing/equipment sharing......big difference if you are paying or receiving hundreds of $$$

I'm going to proably open a can of worms here but I believe this to be a valid point. We've gone through a oil and gas royalty debate so what is the difference if an oil and gas company exploits a natural resource over a guide doing the same thing but in the guides case he/she pays nothing? Face it both are profitting from a natural resource that belongs to the public. I know that there are a lot of shady characters out there that go around under the name of guide but they are giving the legitamate guides a bad name. At some point accountability has to come into play.

Carl the worm patterns are easy enough to do if your interested. I'm going to do a few more but I'm waiting for others to join in and give them a fairer chance of getting to pick something they would like to tie.
