  1. Sounds like you are bringing the ackle too far forward......also try make several locking turns of thread: alternating front of the hackle and behind the hackle....this should help some I think. Stray hackle fibres are hard to avoid but you can always trimm those back.
  2. I do a stimmie variation that has a foam body in a lime green tied from size 18 -12
  3. What would you have in mind???? I can think of lots but................................... someone may get @#&%^$#@^**(*&^% LOL
  4. Try looking at softhackles in the size 16 or 18 range
  5. That could be an option for once or twice but it would fade quickly I think if left open that much all the time. I have some ideeas for options but open to other ideas to extend the potential of this type of challenge.
  6. I know alot of you are not interested in swaps and there is a fair bit of interest in drbulltrout's contests, I was pondering the idea of doing challenges here on the forum. The basic premise would be that every week or two a minimal list of tying material would be listed and those that participate would create a fly with these materials ; they would also be allowed to add a few materials of their own for their creation. To submit a pattern one would simply just post a photo of their creation. The fly created could be any class of fly; ie emerger, dry, nymph etc. Let me know what you think and perhaps we'll make this happen. I think this would add more variety of activities here in the tying bench section.
  7. Kind of ironic with the name on those grain bins in the second and third last photos in the first post.......never ceases to amaze the force and power of wind resulting from atmospheric pressure changes.

    Highwood?

Ed try some of those flies from the last swap........some of those should work especially if you are using a hopper dropper combo.
  9. Not sure if you are into tbes or not but this looks like a good one: http://www.hatchesmagazine.com/page/january2006/103
  10. Surprise indeed....now if they use him on powerplays like Detroit uses Holmstrom and shoot more often then he might be a good acquistion. Time will tell as always.
  11. There is also Dave Brown who guides the Elk, contact made via Darrens reference in the above post.
  12. Birchy ; does this work on lost stuff even after a restore has been done?
  13. Not sure if it would be considered negative billing but it is in my opinion a very underhanded way of doing business knowing that most people would cash that check without hesitation. We actually had them contact us as to why we didn't cash the rebate stating that it was messing up their books....... told them we knew what kind of a scam it was and we weren't interested in doing any form of business with them.
  14. Here's a heads up if you are already an Alberta Energy Savings client: If you are close to the end ofyour contract and they send you a refund check.....DON'T CASH IT!!!!!!! CASHING IT IS IMPLYING YOU AGREE TO RENEW YOUR CONTRACT WITH THEM We were with Epcor prior to the buy out and they sent us 3 of these so called refund checks. Around the same time CTV Calgary ran a consumer alert on this very matter. If you have already done this you still may have an out....contact the consumer reporter at CTV and ask about the past incidents they covered. contact info: Lea Williams-Doherty e-mail: lwdoherty@ctv.ca

    Vises

You can only get them from Faruk himself(manufacturer)
  16. The hook looks alot like a Daiichi 1250 which might be a sub for it. Seems like the fly is well named. Thanks for sharing AC
  17. Anyone have experience with any of the disc repair systems that are available; machine or hand rub? Interested in opinions on the best system value for the money? I have some discs that need some scratch repair to help improve their playability. Any opinions appreciated.
  18. Why would you want a tube fly as an indicator? I would think a standard hopper would be a more sensible solution being the tube would have your line running through it..... how would you attach the dropper nymph? I'm curious as to how you came up with this idea.
  19. Try again and do a print screen, might be able to figure out something from there....I'm guessing you may have a setting turned off.
  20. Taking synthetic materials will be the safest route to go...polar bear and seal are not legal in the US according to the last info I have heard on illegal materials. Perhaps asking this question on a US based board will give you better and more up to date info.
  21. It's usually the environment they are in along with their food source in some cases
  22. Can I ask why you guys why you give this guy the attention he obviously seeks? Ignoring him is a much better way of dealing with thisy sort of character.
  23. I would make the thorax darker....it looks like its all the same colour over the entire length of the fly.
  24. What windows apps do you need to run? I personally have a PC and a Mac.......the Mac is my workhorse while my PC runs Autocad only
  25. PM sent Dave
