  1. Problem does exist, fish do congregate below dam during spawn in good numbers. Bet that number would be a lot higher if suffiecent water level was reached during spawn period. I have only witnessed brown trout spawn as I don't visit these waters during rainbow spawn.
  2. With stricter regulations and better water management Glenmore would easily surpass any known trophy trout lake in Alberta. Fish are there and food is plentiful, some pike an bird predation but nothing major compared to a limit of 5 trout per person. Everything is there already we just need to help it along. Lower elbow also has great potential but has no chance with current management. Kananaskis river is another great place which is under mercy of power demand. Some of the most beautiful brown trout swim there but very few and far apart.
  3. Glenmore is anything but stable, biggest fluctuations occur in spring and fall. Opening the dam during stampede to avoid people jumping fences says enough and then come fall they keep it at a trickle.
  4. Uhmm from 22 to Glenmore 2 trout over 35... same goes for couple other trout streams. Glenmore reservoir is till 5 trout no size limit. Right in the center of city we have a world class trout fishery with browns an rainbows bumping 20lb mark yet no one is reaching out to protect it. We rather waste money on experimental fish stocking to get "trophy trout" than protect what is already here. Stop trout retention from Glenmore res and within 3-5 y3ars it should turn into very fishable lake. Maybe a fish ladder up the dam. Late fall go watch brown trout and in what number and size they team up below dam. Only to face an impassable concrete barrier, watching those big hens and bucks smashing against concrete trying to leap over it. No where else do you get to see them jump out of water 6-8'. Treble hooks should have no place in mountain streams.
  5. Doc that skitter caddis looks like an original of yours. Thank you for posting it, it looks too fishy to be admired in a picture. I will give it a try and tie a few, there are some flats on bow river that are calling for this kind of fly late at night.
  6. Couple reliable patterns for foothills streams and bow river. 20-25 of each pattern per session depending on the amount of hooks in package. Couple more patterns in the works. It sucks to have fishing buddies who will not tie their own! Tenkara guys, nice to see something new.
  7. Nice one flytraper, you improved lots since first flies you posted, keep it up. I should post some as well for upcoming season.
  8. September 30, elbow was not at the level that video shows, it was roughly at 4 cubic, his video was shot when water was at 8 cubic meters. I had an hour to burn before work an actually went to Sandy beach to confirm this. Water line is exactly the same as in his latest video from elbow river, which is at 8m3/s.
  9. You can report it to Bragg Creek CO office. I'm sure they will gladly accept it. If anyone wants to deposit evidence regarding this case, let me know I will pm you phone number of officer in charge.
  10. Calling him out gives him a chance to erase evidence or manipulate it in his advantage. Reporting him and saving all relevant evidence was first priority, there is no going back now no matter what he does to justify his actions. I don't use Facebook, so I wouldn't know.
  11. That is bs. Either way, doubt he'll make that claim during investigation or he just might
  12. As long as they learn their lesson.
  13. Conservation officer copied all relevant videos as soon as i was transfered to his number in case owner decides to delete his channel.
  14. Charges are being compiled as off today. Officer called it a "slam dunk" Why i didn't call him in before? No cell service and not enough evidence to support my claim when i first saw him. By chance i ran into videos posted above this morning and that was evidence i needed. Him and his girl will definitely have some questions to answer and fines to pay. I called rap line before for different poaching occurence, while officer did show up, evidence was gone by the time he arrived, this time however the guy in question documented himself doing the crime. Mrbotangles, i was just excited to have this guy on record. Saw him a few times fishinh closed/protected waters but with no camera or phone to capture evidence or make a rap call. There was not much i could do, but this made my day he actually did everything to meet his demise.
  15. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyYGLq57UNV44jrVD_bblzQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw3VsQ0zekk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsh7viy6rWA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eZOo757sZI I keep seeing this guy around, first time was under elbow falls fishing with his girl with a clackin rapala for bull trout. Yesterday was second time, saw him by casino on mcleod trail downtown. Next time i am definitely calling F&W. An educated person that seems to disregard any decency when it comes to fishing and regulations.
  16. Would that be Serviceberry creek? That's where it all went downhill in 1995. Since the 95 flood carp have taken a stronghold in that area. Some info i gathered from eastern european fisherman points back to that period. Dugouts that held perch became carp breeding haven.
  17. Storm pond in my community has had prussian carp since it was filled with water in 2007, september 2016 was cities first attempt for population assessment in the pond. 9 years since my neighbour and myself reported it. We did continue to call in every year since. I did fish it few times and caught couple dozen prussian carp. Tiny red marabou leech took care of them. City office knows these problems exist but keep quiet until more people react. Irrigation office in Prairies has been knowingly spreading prussian carp for decades between red deer river and bow/ssr irrigation canals. Seasons are getting warmer and we now see a population explosion.
  18. Look up canadian carp fishing webstores, they have proper nets that minimize damage.

    Moal Leeches

Arctic fox spins well in a dubbing loop and makes a great leech. I find it easier to work with than rabbit. Thread seems to hold it better on a finished loop.
  20. Stocked lakes(chain lakes) i fish for meat, stream and river fish are always released.
  21. What are they for? Good even hair stacking. Do you trim bellies off?
