  1. Most shops in city have some discounted fly lines. I spend my money at fish tales and WSS, both shops seem to have fair selection of discounted/discontinued fly lines. Fish tales can set you up with what actually works, while at WSS you need to know what you need. There are other fly shops in Calgary, Google will help you.
  2. K-way makes good emergency rain jackets, it packs small and costs $14 at winners. Have three of them, camo, orange, and blue. They do get steamy in muggy weather, but so does a $150 rain jacket.
  3. Nice tie, I really like how colours blend together.
  4. Never used a spray, for grease I use tiemco on my cdc dries. Be careful not to rub off any close to your eyes. Your eyelids get swollen, resembling Peter Tosh
  5. Flyagra works, it does have a bit of smell to it sort of like kerosene. I use a stiff bristle paint brush instead of dunking flies right into solution.this way you are able to apply solution only to the wings without soaking entire body. One thing I noticed is it affects tippet material making it brittle. It does keep flies on top for long time if applied in advance. I guess it gets absorbed into natural materials instead of just being layered atop as a coating.
  6. Tough call for you dhx, but I would report it. Heck I reported my neighbor when he brought a mule deer with a white tail tag on it. He said he never noticed, I replied BS.
  7. Saw a burbot in fc park, half his head was covered in sapro . Almost stepped on him.
  8. For past few years I find my 5wt pflueger purist spends more time with me than any other rod. Got it by chance from an old friend, re wrapped some hardware and it casts great. It is one of those rods that just works for me, I never think about casting while casting it and anything within 60ish feet is on target. Any fish bigger than 18" bends it right to cork and 4lb tippet survives the battle. Not the best tool out on windy days but for 90% of bow river dry fly fishing this is my choice. Oops this should be posted in "favorite dry fly rod".
  9. I meant to say sea seaguar Abrazx, red label is good but is stretchy. Anyone use Stroft, the German brand?
  10. I like fluorocarbon as tippet when fishing certain dry flies. For nymph rigs 6lb seaguar red label fluorocarbon does all I need it to do. Hard to break off, minimal stretch and good knot strength. Bought berkley vanquish once and never again.
  11. attempt at a extended body stone.

Unless you plan to consistently haul in 20lbers it should be more than enough.
  13. Is that a partridge hook, doctor? Do you purposely use a heavier hook? That is a great prince big foamy, that fly can be a real headache to get proportions in line.
  14. Did one of them have handlebar mustaches, if so, this group can also be found below Glenmore dam. 4 guys(late 20s) and sometimes kid in tow?
  15. These guys operate late at night. There are three different groups. One at Douglas Dale deer foot bridge, by pedestrian bridge and also below cliffs on 130th Avenue. Minnow tubs are always present at these locations.
  16. That looks awesome. Hoping for updates as you go along. Always wanted a swift blank in 4wt.
  17. Carburn park has been listed under bow river regulation since last big flood.
  18. What kind of glue are you using to build extended bodies, Doctor? Do you use under layer to wrap over, like swiss straw or similar?
  19. Few for the coming season Some caddis, mayflies... Btw, anyone have a good source for CDC or a brand they would reccomend. Stuff i'm finding in town is fairly bad, but good enough to do the trick.Trick is doubling up the feather count, stuff I see on some tube videos looks a lot richer in barb count.
  20. Mortadella with wings those are great in low light, nice tie doctor.
