  1. There's hope for you yet... http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#imessage
  2. There's a few Amundson reps on this site... maybe they'll chime in. I saw that problem for myself first hand at WSS. I was there when they were unboxing a bunch of them. I figured it was a bad batch or something..
  3. That's awesome! haha Brad Paisley's "I'm gonna miss her" is pretty awesome too:
  4. Atta boy! First thing I thought when I heard the news was... "Winnipeg's got an NHL team?!! Great, now Toronto's going to want one!!"
  5. Time to start the 'Official Jets (or whatever their name will be) 2012-2048 Season Thread"?! http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=367433
  6. Is this same person (as well as their family and friends) going to be okay with noone coming to save their life if they fall in?
  7. It'd be an excellent spot to learn how to cast! There's lots of back casting room in most spots around the pond.
  8. Unless you're by yourself, the easiest place to park is the parking lot on the south side of the pond. Drive in the Spruce Meadows entrance, drive past the pond (it'll be on your left hand side), then turn left in the first parking lot past the pond. No need to ask permission. Just start fishing and follow the rules on the posted signs (C&R only, barbless hooks, no wading). @Conor - I kept meaning to take him out last summer, but it just flew by so fast! There was actually a span of about ~2 months where I didn't even get out myself!! It sucked.
  9. haha - Yeah, we definitely have to keep our eyes (& hands) on him in public places!
  10. Sweet! I've been looking for a hybrid myself the last while.. but they're more expensive than I thought. Saw this one on Kijiji: http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-sp...QAdIdZ279062740 They have lots of great reviews.
  11. Well, he had quite a bit of help from dad.. but still! Took the munchkin to Spruce Meadows Pond today for his first fishing trip, and he had a blast! Ran into Bobloblaw there, so that was a nice surprise as well! It was a bit drizzly when we first got there, but it actually cleared up pretty good. There were some sporadic risers all over, and we could see some mayflies coming off the water, so I rigged up a double fly rig with an emerger and a small black adams. After a few casts with no interest, I asked Noah if he wanted to try another spot.. he says yes and runs over to a nice little corner. First cast in that location, and we had on a nice little rainbow! Moved to another spot a little bit after that and managed another little guy about the same size. I made sure to bring food and drink, and ask him lots of times if he was still okay. After ~3 hours, he was still having fun and I actually had to tell him we were leaving. So I'd say his first trip was a success! Landing net ready to go.. I'm diggin the positive attitude! Concentration! Nice little rainbow Proud boy! I actually had his own rod for him to use.. a little Zebco collapsible rod from Can Tire. Went to open it for the first time today and the tip fell out! Probably should've checked it after we bought it.. oh well! We did alright with the 7'6" 3 weight.. It was my first time there as well and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to take their little kids out. Excellent location and pretty easy casting from pretty much anywhere around the pond. We'll be going again for sure!
  12. I sent a message to Simms as well, but in the meantime... 2 seasons ago I bought myself a pair of Simms guide boots: http://www.simmsfishing.com/site/guide_boo...udded_aqua.html This year I've noticed that the Vibram soles are pretty worn. The edges are quite rounded now, and I find myself slipping and sliding far too much for comfort! Have fallen in once already this year. haha I love the boots themselves, and they're still in awesome shape, so I'm wondering whether or not the soles can be replaced? Is 2 seasons (keeping in mind I only fish probably 15-20 times a season) normal for the vibram soles to wear? I know they've only been out for a few years.. but have any of you had this same problem? Although I like the idea of vibram for reducing the chance of spreading aquatic 'nasties' like didymo (debatable, I know), I'm thinking that if they're only going to last 2 seasons I'll probably just go back to felt, or studded felt.
  13. Awesome!! Way to go Nigel! A few years back some buddies of mine did a 10 day trip riding from Vancouver to Calgary for Livestrong. I almost did it, but didn't have a bike at the time and couldn't really make things happen financially on such short notice. Apparently it was a pretty awesome trip! I think they made the news too actually.
