  1. Love the Turk, as it is one of my favourite flies for Southern Alberta, except for the Liv (for some reason, they don't work as well there). However, it's a pain to tie, so I get them 12 for $12, as it's not worth my while to tie them. Thanks for sharing.
  2. OMG, I almost spit out my lunch laughing so hard at this picture. The contrast is like Shaq trying to ride a tricycle.
  3. Too bad you can't go visit them and "accidentally" spill some boiling hot tea on the guy's nuts... Maybe the cops can work something out for ya, hehe. Yeah, I'm a little vengeful that way when it comes to injustice. I feel for you, man. I've had my car broken into twice, the second time they took 2 LOONIES, but left my Sage flyrod alone. I'm glad the thieves were that dumb.
  4. Dude, that thing is huge!
  5. Last week, they were forecasting the mother of all chinooks, with temperatures climbing to +10C today and tomorrow. Well, the warm air is staying high, and we're still freezing our buns off. I was looking forward to some warm weather to try out some winter fishing for the first time. I guess I'll have to wait a little longer for that now...
  6. Bannock is awesome for camping too. You roll up the dough and put it on a stick. Then you cook it over hot coals, add jam, and yum! Dang, that just made me drool. Now why didn't I have one of those when I was camping at the Liv...
  7. Wow Dryfly, that is one versatile pattern... it imitates everything!!!
  8. Dryfly, I love it! Just hilarious!
  9. Nice bows!
  10. That one is actually my go-to nymph/dropper for most streams. It works awesome for the Liv and the Highwood.
  11. Hey Kungfool, I'll contribute mine to this thread as well:
  12. I took some time to tie some different nymphs after a friend of mine showed me a few tricks. Sorry for the crappy pics. If I do this more often, I'll come up with a better setup for pics. Hopefully I'll be able to try these out on Friday... Beadhead Pheasant Tail Hook - size 14 Mustad nymph Head - 1/8" gold bead, peacock herl, shiny plastic sheet (don't know what it's actually called) Body - pheasant tail and red copper wire Tail - pheasant tail Easy Red Copper John Hook - size 14 Mustad nymph Head - 1/8" gold bead, peacock herl Body - red copper wire Tail - duck biot Easy Red Copper John (Pheasant Tail) Hook - size 14 Mustad nymph Head - 1/8" gold bead, peacock herl Body - red copper wire Tail - duck biot
  13. I carry 3X, 5X, and 6X. 3X for the Bow (I mostly nympth), and 5X/6X for everywhere else (Highwood, Liv, creeks, and mountain lakes).
  14. Combat fishing... only fun if it's with your friends in the same hole. Does anyone else enjoy fishing shoulder to shoulder with their buddies casting for the same fish? I find that a hoot. I wonder what they would do if a fleet of tubers floated right through their run? haha. This is another reminder for us to be thankful that our "crowded" waters are really not that crowded.
  15. Wow, those are some sweet bulls. Awesome pics... you always seem to get the big hogs no matter where you go.
  16. The best rate I got was through my credit card. I was in the US when the CDN dollar was worth $1.01-1.02 US and my credit card gave me $1.00-1.01 US per CDN dollar. It's definitely worth it to always check the rates, as some are better than others.
  17. Gorgeous pics! Those are some big fish! I don't recognize that stretch one bit. I guess I'll have to keep exploring...
  18. I won a bunch of Air Miles, and even a $10 gift card from Safeway. There are times where the girl at the counter would give me a stack of them, and NONE of them would be winners. As for Tim's, just your usual donuts and coffee from the ol' rrrrrroll up the rim.
  19. Nice pics! I don't recognize that area one bit. Must be a great place!
  20. Dang, that's one strong hook to be catching those. What's it made of, titanium?
  21. Not sure yet, but I'm leaning towards checking out the Upper Bow on Saturday with a friend of mine. If that doesn't work out, I may either hit the Liv or another stream down in that area. Too bad the weather forecast changed for Saturday (13C instead of 16C).
  22. Sweet pics. Love those fall colours.
  23. Those pellet sucking leeches are pretty deadly.
  24. *drool* love that smoky goodness.
  25. Sweet pics, thanks for sharing!
