  1. Computer hardware store.
  2. I've been back and forth several times and have never been asked. Not sure what the actual rules are though.....I'm going on about 7 trips in the last 3 years.....can't say its that big of a deal.
  3. When people can separate what they feel is morally right from what the legalities of the law state than this conversation will end. Until that point we are in very muddy water with no help for an absolute answer. That being said I feel its our responsibility to manage these resources so they are here for our childrens, childrens, children.......and so on.
  4. A friend of mine was on the cougar crew this past winter and he said there are a large number of Cats for that particular area. They do extremely well with all of the deer, elk and moose around there. So much so that they would leave kills once they were frozen as they could more easily catch something else rather than chew the frozen meat.
  5. This team has disintegrated faster than I've seen any team before it. Not sure they can get this thing turned around. Effort has been a frightening disappearing act. Hope for the Canucks sake that they can get it turned around.
  6. Completely agree.....I have a set of special edition Mizuno Irons that were meant to be hung in a special wall rack. I see no point of hanging golf clubs on a wall.....use em or don't own em!
  7. Yep....actually showed my wife the post before I put it up.....
  8. This is what I settled on for my wife.....
  9. I just pulled the trigger on the Garmin 60CSX.....was able to get GPS City to match Costco's price as well as picked up a few accessory items that I could not get from Costco. Rickr you are right...that price just could not be passed up. I tried to justify jumping up to the Oregon but for the money it was too big a gap. I did buy the Canadian Topo as I am not real patient with technology so thought it would be a more streamlined way to go...may find its not needed in the end but it we'll see. Looking forward to getting some backcountry fishing in this year!
  10. I'm looking for a handheld GPS unit to use for hiking and backpacking that has maps that work well through Western Canada and around the Northwest US. Ideally something that I can setup trips ahead of time on the computer and then follow while backpacking or biking. Do anyone have experience using these???.....and of the models that are available and do you have any recommendations for good or bad ones? I have used a Garmin GPS for roads and have found it fairly reliable but have never used one in the bush. Thanks guys! Mark
  11. I also would by a Clack.....and if you are making the trip down south you do not necessarily have one picked before going down.....I went down and brought it back from Idaho falls a couple of years ago and Clackacraft had a yard full of boats. In my opinion the quality is much better on a clack and the guys were first class. Matt Kelley was the one I spoke with the most but also talked to John at the FF show when they were here. Had no problems at the border....pay your GST and go. You may want to give them a heads up your coming as it does require some paperwork coming back...and the dollar is so strong right now. Very happy with the deal and the guys were good to deal with! If you want anymore specifac info just sent me a pm.
  12. I like the: "Daddy I pooped..." to which I turn around and look at my daughter to find her without any clothes or diaper on. Then the search begins!
  13. I have done it and had not problems.....but I bought from a dealer in Helena and also spend most of our camping time not too far from there. I did have one issue with the stereo in ours and turned the warranty trip into a fishing trip on the Missouri River. In my opinion you have to save 5k or more to make it worthwhile as you will blow a day or two in travel and a few hundred dollars in fuel to go and get it. I also factored in anticipating to get my warranty done in the US as the time it would take to make it happen for a second round trip. The border crossing and subsequent inspection are no issue....when I did it it was actually cheaper to pay the RIV fee than to have the unit CSA approved coming out of the states. I don't think it has changed...at that time you could buy the unit and take it to the border without calling ahead like you do for a vehicle. If you can find a good deal its pretty simple....on the other hand the dealers around here have sharpened their pencils....I bought one in the spring and the price locally was only $2500 more than the US.
  14. Nice job....looks like some great fish to hand through the year! What is the name of that song/artist?
  15. Silverdoc is right.....figure out which size you want and just buy that cutter....not too much dough......I have the set and only use one size......Scissors would work quite well also as they do not need to be very intricate.
  16. I have just come back from a week in Montana around Glacier Park and had an absolute blast down there. The fishing was so so.....probably because I'm so so as I saw a large number of fish as I floated over top of them. However, on a float near the West entrance of Glacier I say a mother Black Bear, Black Cub and a white blob following along. It was coming around a bend in the river that I had just floated around and I scrambled to the opposite side of the river to both get a view of this as well as get out of the path as it may have been heading right for me. It however scrambled up the slope and into the trees and I didn't get a chance to get a picture. It was confirmed to me though as only seconds later a guide came around the bend with some site seers and when I asked if they had seen it he told me that he had seen one in the area recently. Definitely is a White Cub in the area. I have done a lot of reading on the subject and know that they are VERY rare. I was curious to know if anyone else has spotted one of these in the wild. With my brief encounter I felt really lucky to witness one.
  17. Me too please....one more thing to keep me distracted from work.
  18. I'm floating the bow tomorrow for the first time and am not sure what a good float would be. I'm looking at probably 6 hours or so to be on the water so any suggestions that would be in that ballpark would work. I've got the pontoon coming along and I've only been out on it a couple of times so am really looking forward to getting on this river....FINALLY! Should be on the water between 10am and 4pm or so. Any info you can throw my way would be appreciated. Mark
  19. I know what you mean about the North fork in a drift boat....did that last year in mid august with lower water levels. Wasn't the relaxing day I had planned. Didn't get as much time out as I was hoping with the extended family along on vacation. Floated the main stem from Teakettle to Pressentine and had some fun. One nice Cutty landed and a bunch of misses.....regretting that I didn't linger a little longer on the first part of the float as I left a lot of good water behind. Had just picked up a new pontoon boat so was working out the kinks....moving up from the old float tube! I'm back in mid august and will have more time to explore as we are staying in West Glacier instead of Kalispell. Can't wait to get there. If anyone else is down that way stop in at Stumptown Angler between Kalispell and Whitefish.....Dave(owner) is a bit of a character but went above and beyond the other shops I've been in down there. Nice to see a small shop that offers that type of service.
  20. Heading to the Whitefish/ Kalispel area for a week and can't wait to do some fishing down there. It is quickly becoming one of my favourite places in the world.....great RV parks that you can actually find a spot in and lots for the family to do in the area while I'm out fishing. If anyone has updates on current conditions I am curious to know how things are looking down there. I'll try and post some pics if I don't drop my second camera in the water in less than a month! May need to look for something waterproof while there as well.....
  21. Those of you that own the Scadden pontoons .......any suggestions on different models that you bought and benefits. Looking at the website I'm partial to the Skykomish Sunrise that has the standing platform and brace. Also, how long did it take to ship up to Canada?
  22. Anyone know of a place a guy can get one of those pontoons without ordering direct from the company in the US? The pics online look quite good.....I remember seeing them at the show a couple of years ago as well.....if you know the deal let me in on it.
