  1. T I am getting the same way, WAY TOO DAMN OLD TO BE FOLLOWING MY LONG LEGGED SON!! But love the time with him, Safeway Elk is looking better and better, but and there is always a but, as long as the kid will have me around I will go out with him hunting Fly fishing etc.. Man should not type and drink Red wine, showing my soft side, and no TACO it ain't my pot belly or my AZZ..
  2. Thanks and best of luck to you as well Once my son gets his in the bag, then I will be able to go at it. Not many things left for the old man to show him now, so have to give it my best..
  3. That bus is filled with Hoof kissing, Drooling Cowboys from Helsholm... and would not want to crowd you out or take your lunch money like the girls did in your special Ed class...
  4. B side, early season, just going for Cow, and scouting for Bull next year.. IF that is the side you are talking about Let's move it to PM, so TACO don't Poach it!! HAHAHA
  5. Yeah Father son for his first Elk.. Not possible to have guest on tag.. This is for Cow Elk.. They ain't easy.. Next year his Pri is high enough for Bull..
  6. I and my son have a special draw and am working hard to fill the tags.. Other wise!!!!
  7. Go to the Nor-vise web site and check out the jaws and the holding power, Norm has a large salt water set of jaws and there is or was a sale at J Stockard on the Nor-vise sys..
  8. Thanks Chris For a bit there I thought that I was loosing the best Canadian Fly Fishing magazine to the evils of fish this fly this place and you will be as good as I am, and damn the environment that you are in or that the fish have to live in , just get your fish, type of thinking .. I just knew that I could trust you all to do it right!!! That whole damn me first and me only mentality bugs me, I am not saying do not do destinations pieces just do them from the right perspective.. All in all look forward to the issue. PS Thanks for taking the TU Currents on board, good man you!!! It is a worthy organization.
  9. I thought that Fly Fusion was not a "Destination" type of mag.. Is this a slide to the Can_dian F_y F_shier type of magazine, report about place that can ill afford the publicity and damn the environment of the place. Or will it be done in the Fly Fusion style , still with concern for the location and the realities of the resource which is the fish, I do not care how many guides get paid or how well a Lodge does in a year, it is the reason that we all fish that is the only concern and that is the fish. I voted left, due to when a place gets loved to death that is what happens to the fishing and location.. Yesterday I picked up a large Tim Hortons cup 75 Km from the closest Timmies and it was on a spot that the land owner asked people not to park..
  10. I think that is a chargeable offense there TACO, letting the flesh of a game fish go to waste, who lives in Claresholm just in case any CO's are reading this.. Brook Trout - introduced, hardy and took advantage of good waters not used by lazy Western Native trout species (had to word that one carefully)
  11. On the river share, even your fishing spot, and second to last best fly of the day, share your knowledge and experiences with those that ask politely and even with those that are too shy to know that they should ask, and those that need to ask. Share even with those that are too damn dumb to ask politely, or who start off rude and uneducated, Share and educate them, they may almost need it most. Share most with those that do need it most and do not even know what it is that they need. If I did not believe in sharing information and helping others when on the water, then I may not give this as much support as I have and can.. From the people that you share with you get more back and the people that http://projecthealingwaters.ca/ shares with will give you back more then you can imagine, give give give, share share share with these people and you will receive receive receive ... But share on a web site or in a magazine - secrets NO DAMN WAY!!!!!! I do write a Front Page for a web site, but and there is always a but, that one is a UK based site... http://www.sexyloops.com/index.shtml You may note that I write the Friday Front Page, that is because I Fish the rest of the week and recover and tye flies on the weekend when the Web site driven, drooling, knuckle dragging wader hatch happens on the rivers ..
  12. There is not a single Black Fly, Mosquito, or Noseeum, here in Alberta, or BC for that matter Scroll down They are all married and have a QUADRILLION Kids.. QUADRILLION it is a real #, there is a guy in the states suing for 60+ Quadrillion $
  13. I fear now that is starting and gaining foot holds in our large western centers.. Sad day for CANADA. Home of the nice people, that claim may now be gone forever!
  14. I just read that and feel noting but disrespect and loathing for those that passed by, there is no excuse for not stopping , were you are going is not that important, that you can't stop to help a fellow human. you are Canadian and or living in Canada, for Gods sake, act like it. We are better then this!
  15. Got mine free from Korkers......!!!! and Bolo has great service also..
  16. They are not invasive, They were planted here, on purpose, and have taken advantage of the opportunity.. Nice Photos and very nice fish..
  17. My first Alberta Bully was on a Rusty Rat!!!!!!
  18. What did you catch in the stream?
  19. Those solar flares and eruption played havoc with my HF communications when I worked MACS in Europe and Combat HF comms in North America.. Neat to hear the solar noise, from the HF sets though, no human made noise could match it... I used to work Ambulance and E911 in Wainwright AB, and in the winter I would be driving home at 0100AM and turn the lights off on my old Chevy truck, this would turn the dash and headlights off, and then I would stick my head out the window and watch the Northern lights Aurora Borealis while I drove home..
  20. Rufus28, If that is directed towards me, I never leave home for an outdoor adventrue in the mountains or anywhere else without mine. Do you have another means of Emergency Notification now that you have your pilots lic, that you do not need the SPOT? Heaven forbid the plane go down and or comms be lost on the plane, I think the spot would be a great "Back UP in that case. I have no stake in or anything thing like that in SPOT. just think they are a great tool.
  21. Read this, http://flyfishcalgary.com/flyfisher_survival_kit.php , I think the important part for your adventure is the Spot information.. you can borrow one, and have the owner set it up with your info, temporarily. I have done a lot of solo fly fishing and even hunting trips , the hunting trips are day trips but the fly fishing have been as long as a week, with only the Dog(s) to talk to.. Love it for my own reasons... remember this.. Failing to plan is planing to fail... All that being said, Barnaby Ridge, is closed they are installing an sewage plant there for the ski hill, so you may want to skip it... they moved all the imaginary fish to Nicolas Sharon Lake in Lethbridge.. Rainy ridge, the lake collapsed and there is a mud hole there now.. Just stay home and fish the Toilet Bow river.
  22. Morrish Mouse for those minnows!!!!! Note : there are no Bulls on the old man.
  23. Ohhhh Man I want to be in that parallel universe... Me too sorry for the side track, got lost may need the gear...
  24. I actually love the slip and sliding done on gravel roads. But and there is always a but not at the expense on somebody else's vehicle or windshield.. I keep it fairly tame now, used to go like a bat out of hell when I drove dispatch, or on a road run.. In Cyprus we had something call "urban Surfing" after a long climb up Trudos mountain there was one long curve that was down and sharp to the right, the guys in the back would climb out on the roof of the British Land Rover and surf until the up hill side of the curve, and the LR slowed down, the trick was the driver put it into Neutral and let it glide down.. just as the road started to climb again there was a Cypriot Police station and they would just shake their heads at the CRAZY CANUKS and BRITS... Not really about gravel but remember that this was on the wrong side of the road!!!!!
  25. That would be true if I did not keep picking up others discarded survival pack empties!!!!
