I Like The Premise Behind This One
flyfishfairwx replied to Taco's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Taco you must have combined the head lines - as the water rats are the river otters and the eat more is the brook trout.. Keep the stories straight!!! like it says in the report they are here, and will stay.. they may when they finally find their niche here become larger and more suited to the area.. I once caught 7 little Cutties from under a log on a stream that I was told had Bows and Brookies.. I got two Brookies and they were very wary and I missed a few that refused my fly.. but the Dipshit cutties were like a hoard of Hyenas.... -
We had a presentation by the RCMP a few years ago, and the topic was brought up (naturally) how fast can you go on the highways before it becomes dangerous... The answer was this - the highways are designed to be safe at 30 km over the posted speed limit, in clear dry day light conditions.. As a fairly safe unwritten rule the RCMP will not bother you if you are 15km over the limit or less.. any more then that and they have no confidence in your skill to drive, or the safety of your vehicle.. so they will stop you.. and ticket you.. I have been stopped at faster then that and given a warning, They asked why I had a class 4 lic, I used to drive ambulance and had the courses and cards to prove it .. now have only a class 5 so have to keep the foot lite on the A pedal...

Howl or whine if centre pinning is as the Google thing says then it not for me!!!! DWI....
-
so Bloom you do not like the forum or the Mag, because from what I have read on Google, if you centre pin, you have a higher chance of killing fish due to no drag on the mooching reel.. If this is correct about Pinning then you will not catch me doing it!!!! Not really sure what the hell I am say here but don't like the Centre Pinning thing if it is what it is...

Is the Drake an online mag only or is there a print version? I like the online version, have not seen the Print version if there is one!!

What Is A Fair Price For Flies?
flyfishfairwx replied to DonAndersen's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I tie my own Flies so they must cost me about $7.50CDN when including all the time and effort and supplies..etc... It is what it is... either buy the cheap ones or not.. use the cheap ones and compare, them to the local ones, see which one lasts longer.. that is the point for me, how well made are the the flies.. The question may have been - what is a fair fly for the price.... I must say that I have never looked at a Kenya fly in Canadian Tire and said damn I need that fly or what a great tie.. But then again I have looked at some of the $3- 5 dollar Flies and gone WTF it is as bad as the less ones.. But and there is always a but.. I have never yet seen a local tied fly, completely suck...that is one that is tied by a competent tier...for the local area.. there are generic fly's ie an adams that is tied from overseas that are quite good.. Then again I don't look in Fly bins much any more.. gives me flash backs of tying for Doaks and others in NB.. -
Do I read somebody with a pay cheque from the CFF mag ? Just saying it sounds that way!!! CFF mag has and is all the problems that you mention of other mags.. and more, it lacks moral fiber, and has zero concern for any area that it hotspots or features.., glory hounds and takers is what it is made up of ... and when those faults are brought to the attention of their editors .. you will be shut down and basically told that you should read Fly Fusion ... and I got this from Nick Pujic ... He will not change his way of putting out the mag.. or the content.. becasue it sells his words not mine... So you get zero support for CFF from me.... I do like Fly Fusion but have a subscription to The Fly fisherman.. they may hot spot but not in the graphic detail as CFF and they have social and environmental conscious unlike CFF... This is my opinion and like A-Holes everybody has one..even if they stink.. So this may stink as you see it, but you opened the door... to the Sheit house...

It's an 04, smells like fishy nets and stinky waders, and beer, smoke and whiskey and wet dog, love the smell of wet dog, wife will not even get in it.. and the hairs not braided, hate the ichy beard thing, no mid life crisis for me man.. just the freedom to fly fish all year.. How you doing????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell him to pick up the latest Canadian Fly Fisher Magazine, it hotspots the rivers in Chinook county.. Sorry could not resit it....

That happens less then you would think, however when it does, there are again proven protocols for handling that situation.. But to your point... yes it will be an issue, because familiarity with the area by the dispatchers, plays a big part of the dispatch event.. example Emerson church may not be Emerson's Church but Corner church on Emerson's corners.. Here in Alberta there is a ton of that local landmarks knowledge that is needed to dispatch when a caller is in an agitated state.. you can not second guess your caller.. but you must be able to think and have the same knowledge of the area as the caller . IT REALLY HELPS !!!! THIS IS FOR ALL PEOPLE "KNOW WHERE THE F#CK YOU ARE.. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS.. My first E911 call was from an excpectant father on a highway between two major cities in central north east Alberta think Bnnyv and Cool Pond he did not know how close he was to one or how far he was from the other.. and he could see the babies head... and he was freaking .. It hooked me on Dispatching... WHAT A RUSH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That scares the hell out of me, even in my little dispatch centre we had to follow the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch http://www.emergencydispatch.org/ Protocols .. they are by far the best and considered the standard.. I do not know if the Calgary Dispatch Centre uses some thing else.. if they did I would be afraid very afraid.. I dispatched out of Wainwright, which does not have a the largest population base but the area covered was one of the largest if not the largest in the province, from above Cold lake over to Viking down to Consort Coronation and Caster and over into Sask.. It was great working there and with great people for the most part..
