  1. I am on a Military Pension...so reckless spending is out for me at any time.. But careful spending and saving while still in the military helped us to be at a spot were we can get what we need.. Not necessarily what we want but we have the needs and that is good enough... Never wanted to be a millionaire any way....
  2. I have done 65Km, with a 50lb ruck and a Carl G and 2 PRC Batteries, and the the Radio, and my webbing and ammo, and weapon and grub, and only got to look at the river as we crossed it and not on a bridge..... :$*%&: So any thing slightly under that... but only if there is Fly Fishing at trails end.. . truthfully now it's the body that tells me how far and most times it not that damn far....
  3. Never Never fish drys in the spring or the summer for that matter .. edumacates the trout and they won't hit them again.. Ha Ha Ha I always carry a few even in winter if a single fish or a small pod raises to drys and then I will tie one on and give a go... who the hell knows and then think of the story you have to tell ................... or not tell..
  4. I use mesquite chips and maple syrup for trout and salmon.. some use apple or hickory chips Damn nice stocker trout...
  5. Why (only in the mountains) why not stockers and leave the wild trout to do what Ma nature wants them to do "Pro-create" That way there is more trout in the mountains to fish and release.. I like stockers in the early spring and late fall..rolled in flour and S&P and fried in butter .. or smoked.. This is just question .. not a judgement you do what you think you have to .. But I like wild trout to up there in the streams not in your digestive stream..
  6. I hope this works.. This is one of the Canadian Hero's that Fox was making fun of..... http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=...5843&ref=nf
  7. That is what I used on my old pair.. almost 5yrs old now... they just came apart last winter.. still holding well .. Have the new Korker guide boots .. great boot..
  8. Cold McDonald's Fries found on the floor after a party... What !!!!! I was still drunk, and it was food....They were still in the fry bag....

    Goodbye

Sorry for your loss, my condolences to you...
  10. Guys I carry the SPOT now and feel it is the best for what I do ... I am not a skier or Snowboarder but I do spent a heck of a lot of time outside in the winter...(around Rivers) I have used the SPOTS "OK" button with only the smallest view of the sky and my messages have gotten through... Granted it would not work (I believe) if buried under lots of snow... but I have confidence that if I screw up and get hurt or lost, the SPOT will get at least alert somebody as to my where about's... For those interested here is the link ... I am not a sponsor of the SPOT... just recognize a good tool to have in the woods when I see one... http://www.findmespot.ca/en/ Heavy cloud cover and heavy snow fall have not in the past compromised the spot.. I agree with PSFG.. in that having the basics and a good back up team of informed friends and family is of the utmost importance... but 12 hrs may be 11 hrs too long... or 11hrs and 55 min too long.. The SPOT gives a higher piece of mind if you change plans as you can signal that you are OK.. I test the spot out side my door before leaving LA and wait for the msg to get to the wife.. As a bit of back ground I have spent 24 yrs in the CDN Army, Boys scouts and grew up hiking and camping, Fly fishing and, ran orienteering races in HS.. The SPOT is not the only tool I carry or rely on, but I think it is a good one to have ..
  11. Loved the old show and sure will watch the new one.... A show dedicated to Fly Tying, IMHO can't beat that.... Thanks..... for doing the shows and Plse keep doing ........
  12. Me too, but I was not going to elaborate........
  13. Fishing on the crow.. on that little bend that is protected from the wind...
  14. You old boys are too set in your ways.. The second fish I posted was not caught on a BAW... and my son had a fatter one on the same fly only in black.. No prob.. I think for Shits and giggles I will fish the Crow next with my Salmon flies and see what happens....
  15. That was a salmon fly right? My first Bull in Alberta was caught on a Salmon Fly, never thought to try them for Bows.. Do you still have it Plse post a pic so I can tie more...
  16. Holy crap you old farts roll rough ..... :$*%&: I drive the 06 Matrix, didn't you see the Happy Fisherman sticker and fresh Dog nose prints on the windows? I also have a 04 Bright Blue Highlander.. C&R plate thing and Trout Bum sticker...same on the dog prints.. Nice fish BTW did you need oxygen after the fight..
  17. It dug a big "new" hole under the roots.. no fish from it yet at least for me... but I bet this summer if it is not washed away completely by the spring run off, there will be a resident fish there..
  18. Hi Beadhead.. It was nice to meet you at the parking lot also, it seems folks remember the dog more then me but that's OK... I had a great day... with a story ... Had five hooked landed two.. First here is the obligatory shot of Fischer.. the Arsonal not going to tell which were hot but not hard to guess.. the first Bow nice male caught in a run... long and lean.. the second one is the one I was after, she is nice and fat.. I try not to take the fish out of the water just better for them this time of year.. Fischer started to act all nervous and was growling and pacing and jumping.. Damn I love that dog.. the first pic shows the Wolf/BIG Coyote on the ridge...this is to the west into the wind.. The second picture it's gone.. I thought I could see another on the grass in front but not sure.. DAMN big if they were Coyotes... started with the snow furies so we headed to the Timmies in the pass and Fischer got extra rations Not very often I post a fishing trip to this board, don't want to encourage the Big City boys...
  19. That was friggen hilarious ..... how the hell do people ever figure that they can do that stuff????
  20. Nope I'm a ****ing saint!!!!!!!!
  21. When I retired from the army they would have moved me and the family any where I wanted... Well I picked right here in SWAB LA.. Lethbridge Alberta... big enough city to get what I need and close enough to the great fishing that this area offers.... Will only move from here with the earthworms chewing my remains..
  22. Of course I had to show that to my son and then forbid him to do it on top of all the other crazy *hit he has done.... Good luck with that one Ray!!!!!!
  23. Tried it when I had my right shoulder operated on and then again when my right wrist was broke in two places.. can do it but very pooly funny just like my regular casting HA HA look at the FAOL.com (Fly anglers on line (dot) com) Front page and there is a gif of the owner DH casting with both hands so it can be done...
