    Big Rainbow

Congrats Jayhad. She looks like a silver bullet .
  7. I cannot agree more... Fishing in Alberta is awesome and hopefully will stay that way. FishandBugdude, I am glad you had such exciting time. Surely, (some day) I will be back for some more fishing.
  8. Hi Michelle, Glad to see you are so exciteed about the first lesson. I would say you are already hooked. If you are interested to learn a bit more about casting techniques, Midcurrent has some videos to watch: http://www.midcurrent.com/video/videos.aspx In their first one, Joan Wulff presents hand and arm movements (wrist included), http://www.midcurrent.com/video/clips/wulff_dynamics_04.aspx YouTube is also a good source, but there you need to know what you are looking for. Enjoy your first FF outing and let us know how it felt. Cheers, Bandee

    Some Lake Bows

Some fat bows! One has enormous jaws... Monster.
  12. Yep, that is what I bought. Thanks. Those "ghost" nets almost disappear on the water.
  13. I bought a "ghost" rubber net and love it. Hopefully it helps to control the smell of fishing nets, as well. Thus, I am thinking to change the mesh to rubber net of my other landing net, as well. Could you recommend some online shops that sell rubber net replacements? Preferably Canadian or European. Cheers.

    Cutties!

Wow great fish, they are surely getting fat.
  15. Thanks for sharing, Drew. I like that fly. What pattern is it?
  16. The water and some wildlife shots:
  17. As there is limit to photos in one post, I am adding some more now: The monster:
  18. I had a long-week fishing vacation in middle Finland, where the water is as clear as the Bow. After buying the fishing licence I checked out the fish from the bridge and was completely surprised. There were many and some were big (and awkward - those were the breams). I could clearly see the bottom on most part and even in some of the rapids. I rigged up with a streamer rod and a nymphing tackle. Almost all of my takes were on the nymphs. Later, I converted the streamer to dry fly tackle. I went through many flies and found some that worked much better then the others. These were mostly emerger patterns, one being the copper john with glass head (imitating air bubble). These did not last too long, as banging them to rocks chipped the glass head. BTW, can you recommend a substitute for the glass head? I guess, I could look for some translucent plastic beads. Regardless of the room for improving my "stealth fishing style", fishing was awesome and I landed well over 100 wild brown trout and grayling. My biggests (couple of those) came to 42 cm (round 17 inch). However, I also saw a local catching a 57 cm brownie (22,5 inch). Regardless of the 40 cm size limit, fish were released. It was nice to see. Oddly, the bigger ones came during daytime and heat, while the fun began with darkness... I did not see exactly where I cast and removed the indicator, only when the small tug came I lifted the rod. Fish went frenzy. This was also close to a bat place and they went hunting also during these frenzy times. Several times these bats flied into the fishing line and once we struggled couple of minute before it manage to get away. It was creepy. Well, quite a bit of hatching went on, so no surprise that these animals took on the opportunity to feed. There was quite a bit of fishing pressure on these fish. I almost never fished alone there. Well, it meant lots of talking for me . On the third day, I met a Canadian from Alberta. Small world, eh! Some of you know that I lived in Calgary for 4 month last year, so I was happy to talk to a Canadian fellow. He was indeed a nice guy and we discussed a lot about fishing in Finland and online fishing shops. Not surprisingly, he was a dedicated and pretty good dry fly fisherman. To cut this story short, I will embed some photos and if you are interested there are some more in my Photo Bucket album Fish:
  19. I have experience with #6 Sage Launh and that certainly feels much havier than my other rods (e.g. a similar Vision intro category). Pick up several rod and compare weight and feeling,
  20. Awesome pics, SNAPfisher. I was around last winter and the scenery looked a bit different. That video is great! I watched trout (and grayling) behavior for a week and could not get enough of it. (We have brown water here in south Finland, so one need to travel a bit to fish clear water.) They were more territorial than I thought so. Those wildlife photos are great! (Love the close-up on the squirrel.) What camera do you shoot with?
  21. Wow, some beasts there! What 3wt were you testing?
  22. Hilarious. So, it is not Fly Fishing, but Flying fish.
  23. That sucks! I hope they fix you up by the time of the next fishing trip.
