  1. Max, that looks like another funtastic fall. I really like this autumn shot with the mountains in the background. Fishing does not get much better than this.
  2. Cool photos, Steven! I really like those low angle and spawning shots.
  3. Here we go again, it's closed-period over here. Fortunately, I managed to squeeze in some fly-fishing on those last days. Of course, it was raining (we are talking about autumn in Finland!). Some of the fish photos turned out to be a bit blunt, but rapids look great. I attached some photos and here is the link for my Picasa/Google+ album.
  4. HikeToFish, it looks like a daredevil hike ^..^. Pretty cool photos, but have you wondered why you do not find hiking partners from the board? I would not go with you! Only kidding (well partially). My favorite is the first shot! (though the waterfall looks great, too)
  5. Pretty nice water... I admire those Canadian clear water rivers! On a sunny midday, shooting with an ND filter and a polarizer could help.

Looks like a fishing trip; lots of actions, colorful fish, and superb sunsets! Thanks for sharing. BTW, what is that N.E. Calgary landmark? (astrodome?)
  8. See my reply here: http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showtopic=15900
  9. There were some great photo posts recently (thanks for sharing), so I decided to join and post a link to my Thousand lakes region (Finland) vacation photos (fishing, nature, and others). Take a look at the gallery here: http://naturephoto.zenfolio.com/p881004746 or as full-screen slide show: http://naturephoto.zenfolio.com/p881004746/slideshow
  10. Fine looking golden trout, Brian! The view looks amazing. I miss the Rocky mountains, though I only hiked there. Maybe, one day, fishing too...
  11. I've got plenty of that. Rods are generally great value for your bucks. They range from medium to extra fast. You need to try them. If they provide same customer service in CA as here in Finland, you get rod tip replacement in couple of days for a reasonable price. Waders are great, but do not go for the cheapest, if want to use for more than one season. Their new jackets really look & feel great and waterproof (do not buy the Classic). I got a Ghillie now and I am very happy with it. They got wide selection of lines. My favorite is Presentation 2. However, nowadays they have matching line(same name) for their rods.
  12. Thanks for sharing. Some "handsome" fish! I was about to ask the recipe for the damsel, but you beat me to it. I'm also interested to learn how the extended body is done, though I assume it is similar to that of mayfly.

    Cutties

Great photos, CF8! Looks like that Canon waterproof performs pretty well in these conditions. My fav is the next to last one.
  14. Dxh, sounds like a memorable fishing trip! I was laughing when you went after the 3$ indi and took a plunge. I know it could have been me. BTW, do not forget to put on a tight wading belt (and if your wader has a rubber band on the top, pull it tight)... half full of water wader makes fishing/swimming an extreme sport. ^..^

    Rainbows

Some handsome bows and good photos. Did you take them with self-timer or had a helping hand?
  16. +1 for the rubber net I can't comment on the durability, but I had mine for 3 years and plenty of usage no visible wear Completely eliminated the fishy smell of net (though I know some consider that as fragrance of true fisherman) The Ghost-Net becomes translucent in water and underwater photos look great Supposedly better for catch&release practices It does not catch your flies

    Moving Water

I added some more photos to this album. I love this river and hope in future she will be better cared for. If your browser supports flash, this link takes you to the slideshow presentation. http://naturephoto.zenfolio.com/p739428814/e2cd8999f

    Moving Water

Thanks, Will. I remember, because we exchanged some e-mails when you were here last year. The color varies a bit, these were taken at run-off time. These are all different rapids in Helsinki (most of them are from those places I mentioned to you).

    Moving Water

Should you like moving water and cannot get there enough, here are some photos of the Finnish rapids&waterfalls: http://naturephoto.zenfolio.com/p739428814/e19846f79
  21. I do the "nail test" for checking my hooks every time I tie them on. So, I too file my hooks often. For smaller hooks, I use those pencil like round/flat/grooved file. It's is easier with them, but still cumbersome.
  22. Last Thursday, I visited Mika Vainio's (Vision) fly-tying seminar at EPK. I took some photos of him, the EPK (fly-fishing club) & some of the flies and I uploaded them to my blog. http://fly-fishing-finland.blogspot.com/20...d.html?spref=fb This is a thoroughly chewed fly from his box:
  23. Nice thread and thanks everyone for sharing! I got some ideas. Last couple of days I was also tying some new and mending some old-trusty flies. Here are a some photos: Tying like it was spring! If you click on the first photo it takes you to my Flickr with some more patterns.
  24. Amazing places, Greenplanter. I miss those mountains... and spring.
