  1. There used to be a bead store in the shopping center in Deer Run. Walmart has lots of plastic beads in the crafts section...they are not metal but there is a chance they might still work.
  2. Hey Tungsten, is that "deer" lake
  3. Stillwater...It's best not to troll over the water that someone (who is anchored) is fishing. I've had the joy of someone trolling in a motor boat within 20 feet of me in my tube while I was anchored out in the middle of a lake. A few seconds later I had their mono running by my head with the lure coming quickly. I had to grab the line and throw the hook sideways before it stuck in me. It's also polite to not park within a super long cast of someone who is anchored...unless you ask if it is OK. To have someone park right within your casting range should be open season for some sling shot action. At Bullshead I have had guys cast lures over my head from shore while anchored in my tube. Something about sharp hooks retrieved by my air filled boat gets me excited.
  4. I use 6wt double taper lines and in order to get some backing on the reel I have always used 7/8 reels. It's been about a 25 year program so far and my arm hasn't fallen off yet. I have even used a 9/10 reel on my 6wt and didn't notice a problem.
  5. Quit harassing my fish with your ice fishing rod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. So if a light reel on a heavy rod makes your wrist sore...what are the effects of a heavy reel on a lighter rod? (Say a 9/10 reel on a 6wt?)
  7. Hey Der, the rod is nothing fancy. A young fellow growing up in Longview didn't have a pile of cash in the 40's. It is a Union Hardware rod. I was surprised how much power it still has though. It will see some more action in a couple of months.
  8. LS, isn't that a good thing?
  9. Jeff I've got a reel I can send your way. PM me your address.
  10. My buddy used to do lots of snorkeling in river in Bowness. He said the river bottom was blanketed with whitefish. However, in the last 5 years or so the numbers of fish has drastically fallen. Hopefully this doesn't foreshadow a huge problem for the river.
  11. My GSPointer has chewed a couple of capes of mine as well. Darn bird dogs.... She better make up for it in October when the pheasants are sneaking around
  12. Touche
  13. Pretty sure the whitefish spawn in Sept/Oct so they are not grouping up in the winter to spawn. Jirad, how do you cast that panther martin with your FLY ROD ? This is FLY FISH CALGARY after all
  14. We didn't see any of those duck-billed brownasaurs when we were there last summer, but we did find something much more interesting in the creek water

  16. I have issues with throat sampling as well. Maybe fish over 17" are better candidates as the throat diameter is even larger to accommodate the tube. Lots of opportunity to injure fish here for sure.
  17. Cool shot TP Here's an action shot
  18. Sorry Wes...just a rod choice. I like my brain cells too much to play with hemp.
  19. Great Bulls TP. Here's a washed out lake brown
  20. Spectacular fish Terry. He must have showed up as a HUGE marker on your sounder. That right there is the reason folks travel across the continental divide. Baynes fish???
  21. You need a few of those black/white guys put into Beaver I guess....
  22. Good fatty Jeff. Hopefully we will see fish like that again some day in Golden Pond. Here's another anorexic fish
  23. Hope you had a great day and got some new fishing toys to try out
  24. Post-spawn in July they look a little rough After a long winter
  25. What did you catch it on Rick? I've caught some on the worm before.
