  1. A Rebuttal to alot of the deniers claims and some info on who funds them --think Exxon and coal--seems they have credibility problem too. Looks like someone tried to hack into Canadian files too, but were caught- interesting as this appears to be a concerted effort. Climategate indeed. http://www.desmogblog.com/ http://thetyee.ca/Mediacheck/2006/05/02/Pa...yGlobalWarming/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/03/g...s_n_378629.html http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kert-davies/...n_b_208269.html I found lots more links, but these will do. Regards Mike
  2. I think you might be exaggerating a bit. Just doing my bit to extent this to 9 pages Regards Mike
  3. Funny thing, when the results are finally in, alot of us will be long gone and will never know if we were right or wrong. Regards Mike ( note to self--visit Maldives soon)
  4. Elin to Jaimee--obviously going for quantity not quality Regards Mike
  5. Anthropomorphic global warming Regards Mike
  6. Deleted, didn't add anything new to discussion Regards Mike
  7. Good points Jack Regards Mike
  8. First in with: What's the difference between a golf ball and an Escalade? Tiger can drive a golf ball 400 yds. Regards Mike
  9. Jack I disagree with you about turning a blind eye to practices that quite frankly are beneath us as human beings. If we don't question them, who will and how will change ever occur? As far as allowing practices in Canada that are illegal in law, I don't think so. I do not accept " thats just the way it is " as a reason for not doing anything. Regards Mike
  10. Comparing someone starving in an African village to someone in Japan is a pretty long stretch. Just because a culture allows certain practices doesn't make them right and free from challenges. Look at the treatment of women in various cultures. Do you think beatings, burnings and cervical circumcisions are acceptable? What about poaching to satisfy a cultures need for bear gall bladders, tiger penis or rhino horn. I can't see how you can turn a blind eye to things like this and say " Oh it's part of their culture". I think cultures are constantly evolving and even one as Old as Japan's is subject to change. Regards Mike
  11. My God, I have to agree with both Sun and Rickr, That is scary!! Unfortunately, I believe that a Danish controlled group of islands still has an annual dolphin/porpoise slaughter,so Western civilizations can't really claim any moral high ground. Regards Mike
  12. Equally well said
  13. Well I listen to a Doctor on medical decisions I listen to economists on the economy I listen engineers for expertise in their fields I listen to biologists on biology Why would I not listen to climatologists on climate? Here you go http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/americas/01/...lwarmingsurvey/ Regards Mike
  14. Sun, I have to admire your tenacity on this subject and I do respect your opinion, however the scientific community seems firmly against you. When asked if temperatures have risen compared to 1800s, 90% of scientists said yes. When asked if human activity is having a significant impact, 82% said yes When Climatologists only were asked the percentage rose to 97% saying yes I think I'm going to to go with the majority on this as I don't have any expertise in this field. Regards Mike
  15. Sun, I think that's the problem, brookies favor the same waters as native cutts and Bows( Rainbows are native to the Athabasca system). I guess the action required should be based on the scale of the problem. If the problem was severe enough closures and eradication should be on the table. That being said, I don't think this should happen just because. Regards Mike
  16. What if whirling disease, rock snot, NZ mud snails or something new shows up and starts gaining a foothold in the National Parks? Should the waters be closed to Fishing as we are the cause of the spread. Regards Mike
  17. And there are a lot of people who think the extinction of dinosaurs was caused by the great flood. Regards Mike
  18. Well, they can use the excuse resource extraction companies have used for years: " We know we have screwed up in the past, but our technology has improved and we promise to do better. Trust us. " Regards Mike
  19. X2 Regards Mike
  20. I think the fear was H1N1 reaching pandemic levels and overwhelming the health care systems. Got my shot 12 days ago- told them I was a hockey player- headache for a day and a sore arm for a couple. I would hate to get H1N1 and give it to someone else and they have a bad reaction. Regards Mike
  21. Well this thread has taken a turn into left field. Regards Mike
