  1. You could try boom creek and lake. not banff but close.
  2. I know of one pool closer to the bow that has larger fish in it. If you fish in the evening you will see risers. But convincing them to eat is not easy. It has a very large rock in it.
  3. I wouldnt write off fish creek, there are lots of small ones but you can get some good ones in there as well if you look for them.
  4. Theres no point in complaining if you dont name the company, I would like to here the name as would many others.
  5. I tie all my flys on barbed treble hooks, I just cut the line to release the fish... oh I also took a piss in hidden creek last week after i clear cut an area to haul in my trailer with my quad up the creek.
  6. From the the point of view of a husband with a wife who does therapy with children and my own psychology degree and work with others, I had a hard time reading much past the threats and destruction. I think a proper child psychologist is the best course of action at this time. At best its just the child acting out over the situation or poor parenting but It could escalate or be an underlying problem or condition. And if money is an issue alberta does have good funding for children in need of counseling. Thats my point of view not in anyways to be taken as anything other then such.
  7. Wow did they ever F*&^ this up. I think everyone here thought this would happen, but to see it actually happen is devastating.
  8. If you need a tow back to Racehorse on a weekend let me know.
  9. I had a friend use gorrila glue and it never lasts in the water.
  10. It would depend where i am if im in the open on a stream ill put my rod down and take cover close to a bank. if im in the woods ill put my rod down and take shelter under a tree. But only if its a densly wooded area. Or head back to the truck and wait it out.
  11. Theres a product call shoe goo which might work but I would go with marine epoxy.

  13. This video needs more perspective. Its to hard to see where hes filming from. Did the river re route around the huge rocks directing it to the falls or is he taping at a different location. I do find it hard to believe that the elbow river no longer goes down those falls which have been there hundreds of years. And if by chance the river did re route around. I would put money on it that they will re route it again over the falls. Just hard to imagine it would have that huge of effect to completly reroute around that falls.
  14. Any particular reason you would want to take that route? why not go to black diamond through okotoks then to 22?
  15. You are entitled to your opinion, I have had first hand experiance over the last week with many of the popular streams and rivers from banff down to crow along the trunk road and a little farther east minus the closed section. And they have been fishing pretty well some, really well towards the head waters. I have yet to try sheep and highwood. Sheep will be this weekend and im not sure if ill get to the highwood towards the head since the road is out.But untill you try you will never know.
  16. Sarcasm is lost on you apparently. Although all sarcasm aside. You are going a little far in saying "all is lost" The rivers will survive and the rivers that are still in decent shape wont see much more pressure. If you only fished the bow or other such river, you will either stop fishing it or do it regardless of the state. Ive been out to many other rivers and havent noticed much increase, except for campground availability. It seems people just cant except that this happens every so often and the river survives, this isnt the first and wont be the last.
  17. Frankly it comes down to needing more enforcement of the rules already in place.
  18. All this would do is push people of the oldman river road and Im not sure it can hold anymore people.
  19. most of this is already in effect except the fee. which as much as those squatters annoy me respectable people should be allowed to enjoy the camping experiance for free, 100 feet from a stream or lakeis already a rule. not sure what you mean by bag limit for quaders if your talking about fish there already is a zero keep limit on trout expect for castle. There is just no enforcement, mainly for the distance from a stream.
  20. I've found most places carry some brand of big rock, Grasshopper is my favorite. I'm Superised they didn't carry trad. Maybe its cause nobody knows what a calgreeian is.
  21. I completely agree with this, I cant explain it but ive have met many people who just feel heading north doesnt feel right. I think for me its because I live in the deep south of calgary and hate driving through the city. I did have a great time on the ram last year and even sylvan lake a couple weeks ago. I have a very strong love for fishing the lower South west.
  22. No ones every said go north young man.. Its weird how alot of people including myself feel that heading north just doesnt feel right. Ive been up to the ram and area and its very nice. South just feels better. Not sure how to explain it.
  23. Mclean creek campground is expected to open for the long weekend. Its the bridge just past it that caused the closure. http://www.albertaparks.ca/mclean-creek/advisories-public-safety/flooding.aspx
