Really? Fish Tales? I find this a little hard to believe as i've only received the most helpful and polite information when frequenting Fish Tales. As a beginner not all that long ago... Fish tales would listen to my uneducated and silly question, answer with more than adequate information, and send me in the right direction(s). That is a hell of a lot more than other store closer in to down town have done for me... The people working at Fish Tales seem like they actually want to be working in a fly shop. They are glad to shoot the *hit with you, show you a few knots, or tie up a pattern you've been having trouble with. I have never left the store with a bad "taste." I'd recommend giving them another shot.

Exact same for me.. i've been putting it off for two months and finally went for a physio appt. The biggest piece of advice the lady gave me was to try and not sit for extended periods of time... Pretty difficult thing to accomplish being a student. The pain is bearable in the day, but i haven't slept a full night in a month easy. I walk like a 50 year old guy with a mean case of the gout... I can't wait to get old....

I had a pair of Kaenons and they fell of my hat tree planting. There were definitely the best pair of sunnies i'veowned, the polarization on em was epic, even in low light conditions. Go check them out at Fish tales... they've got a bunch o' sizes and styles. Really, you cant go wrong. I think another big deal with fishing sunnies is scratch resistance. If you don't lose em too too often, you better off spending some cash.

I've tried the winter swingin thing when I get super tried of nymphing, as previously mentioned... its not really productive. I would think that if you were streamer fishing with bait fish type patterns they would be a little larger, to imitate the fry the have grown a bit since their hatch ? When it's cold, I find nymphing generally easier because your line is moving through the guides more frequently and doesn't have as much time to freeze up between casts.

people slalom 1000, bring a few chair ride beers, stop in the trees for break and any day can be a good time.

Just picked up BFGs Km2's, they are the ten ply model for my tacoma, and i dig em. little noisy at 110km+ though... Hey slingshotz, how do you figure a ten ply tire would ruin your suspension? I could see if the tire was much to large or causing rubbing, but i don't think the stiffness of the tread would have anything to do with it. Not picking a battle, just curious

You wanna mimic their food sources; White fish(white/brown/pink), cutthroat(green/pink/white red), suckers(grey/blonde/black)... Smaller bulls with also eat the dry flies. For streamers, they gotta be heavy to get down to the botton of pools. Your flies need lots of movement (marabou, ostrich,rabbit) size of fly depends on size of the fish. Not all bull trout are gunna chow gigiantic flies, smaller streamers will also get you fat cutties

Well like most things "fly- fishing," there is no right or wrong way to do anything. Its like fast and slow action rods, everyone has a personal preference or what is most comfortable for them to cast. Same same with reels... People like em light to make the rod seem slow or heavier to make the rod tip seem quicker, as stated in Birchy's article. You can also use lead wire to fine tune the weight of your set up, so no, you don't have to go into the fly shop and test the balance of the set up with half the line out... The finger on the cork is to get a general idea. I used to fish a CLW on my spey rod and that is a super light reel weighing in at 191 g's, and picked up and Evotec which weighs 225g's, I personally like the extra weight... the rod isn't totally balanced with the reel draggin it down a little, but it feels good to me. Anything else to add Canadensis? You seem to have tons of great input...
