there was an article in one of my old Fly Fisherman mags on a fly called "Matt's Gnat" and he did something similar in making a peacock and ostrich herl rope using a loop of thread...will try to find out what year it was published...

just picked up a copy of John Barr's book "Barr Flies" and would just like to recommend this book to anyone who likes tying nymphs and patterns that work...always been a big fan of John Barr and his flies so naturally, when i saw this book on the shelf, i had to have it...good read...
