    Underwater

dave just has too much time on his hands...lol
  5. i was dead set on buying the OB this past spring until i saw something interesting...Rick at WSS in Lethbridge put both the OB and the PT on the counter next to each other and asked me "what's the difference?"...aside from a few minor details, there were no major differences except for the price you pay for the Orvis name...he even interchanged the Trion spool into the Battenkill and vice versa and both reels still worked...ended up buying the Trion and have loved it ever since....
  6. Bow River: i don't fish it cuz i don't want to add to the overcrowding on it... Freestone Streams: accomplished goal of 30"+ bull this summer; no goals remaining... Stillwaters: i don't fish them so i save them for the ones that do... Ultimate Goal In Life: to have my name become famous in the southern Alberta fly fishing community (fat chance i know )
  7. now i don't want to sound hypocritical here as i have done my share of retaliating to jerks in the past (after they make it serious) but after talking with some of the "elders" in the sport, the questions i have here are : 1) why lower yourself to their level? and 2) why take actions that might stereotype fly fishers as pompous and arrogant?...not everyone's gonna like everyone else out there, especially with Alberta's population boom but we can't fish with the mentality of sabotaging or injuring each other just cuz some people are assholes...like i said, i've had a couple of bad run ins this year and i'm not one to talk but at least i'm trying to change so i don't get stereotyped as ignorant and arrogant myself...just my two cents there...
  8. the only thing i could say is read Barry Mitchell's chapter on Fisherman's Luck in his book... sometimes we have good days and others not so good...just the way it goes sometimes i guess...
  9. not to mention the majority of the major spawning tribs in the oldman/castle drainages are in the forestry too...the closure should give them a stress free spawn this year (hopefully)....
  10. congrats to dave for getting his fly published in Fly Fusion this quarter...about time someone recognized the skills and made ya famous dude...
  11. not my biggest but ya gotta love these colors...
  12. please meet Big Earl... 34" and 19" girth...approx. 15 pounds (according to this... http://www.trailstotrout.com/calculator.html) as you can tell by the smile, i was pretty stoked as this is my biggest to date...
  13. i would post a pic of my tan but some people might get offended by my "Oreo Cookie" tan line...(plus i don't think anyone wants to see any hairy ass on here...lmfao)
  14. he was on the opposite side of the river on the top of a steep hill face...more than likely he was just making sure i was getting out of his area or else maybe he was waiting for the terrain to level out...either way, it still creeped the hell out of me...the way they navigate rocks and boulders etc. without even taking their eyes off you...
  15. was camping on private land (permission was given) and on Sat. i was stalked by a cougar for approx. 1 km on the Oldman between Hwy 22 and the Gap this last weekend...spotted him and started making my way back upstream to camp and he followed me the entire way...grizzly sightings abound in the general area as well from adjoining land owners...word of advice, keep the shotguns loaded and the bear spray updated....
  16. if that track goes around in a circle, then what's the point?...that's like watching NASCAR to see cars make left hand turns all day...dammit i hate ignorant pricks that destroy the environment....
  17. this one's my fave so far this year...had to use my back pack as a reference point (there's never anyone fishing with me when i hook the beasts...go figure)... second up for me would be this one...by the way, if anyone finds this net on Lost Creek, please let me know (lost it about a month ago)...
  18. try hanging on to a bully...they got some slime to them...
  19. to be honest, i kept looking in the background of your shots for Bosephus (my nickname for big ass bullies) either charging or peeking at your fish...nice pics....
  20. i sure as hell hope that wasn't aimed at me brent...

    Wtf

lmfao MTB ...nah this WAS a fully grown female cow found on the edge of the castle just upstream of Hwy. 507...there were several "other" parts that were scattered around the main portion...the hoofs and the teeth gave it away...looked like a pretty messy kill site...any guesses as the animal responsible?
  22. as for scrapes and stepping in nettle/ivy, just hop into the creek for instant relief...if you are wearing an expensive pair of breathables in some of the rougher brush, you are just begging for trouble...plus, fly fishing chicks dig scrapes and rashes...at least i think so...lmfao
  23. bulltrout

    Wtf

following Lynn's previous thread...any guesses as to what this is?...first one to guess right gets respect...lol
