  1. Now we're only three points behind the Flames with a game in hand. Canucks play the Blues tonight, while the Flames tackle Columbus, then the Canucks play Colorado tomorrow. By tomorrow evening the Canucks could be a point up on the Flames with 8 games remaining for each team (or the Flames could be 5 points up on the Canucks - but I'm trying to be positive). Flames suck, go Canucks!!!
  2. Canucks were 10 points back......now it's down to 3 points. 11 games to go with only 2 games against teams higher in the standings, so the Canucks should have a good shot at the Flames. The game against Calgary on April 7 will be a big one!!!
  3. Psst......Flames fans. Look in the rear view mirror.......the Canucks are coming!!!!!!!
  4. 12 wins out of 14 games. Now were starting to reel in the Flames!!!!!!!!
  5. Oh man I have to choose?????? I'll continue to live in Abbotsford (or maybe a little further up the Fraser Valley( Chilliwack or Agassiz), but I'd maintain recreation properties in Fernie, Nordegg and Nazko (this is fantasy, right?). The rest I'll just have to make do with short trips for the fishing. Too many great places to fish in Western Canada, and life is too short. I love this country!!!! Fish Western Canada and die happy!!!!
  6. Quite nicely!!! It's nice to have a Canucks thread on here, but I wouldn't like to see a Leaf's thread. There's a recent BC Provincial Government programme aimed at relocating all Leafs fans out of the Province. Unless you want to see all this trash dumped in Alberta, Albertans need to get on board with this programme and make sure they are all relocated further east (preferably in Quebec!!!).
  7. Crappy team???? Crappy team????? Thems fightin' words!!! When Luongo was pulled I was thinking that the Canucks deserved at least a point, even though a couple of Calgary's goals were not great (Mitchell and Burrows givaways). The one save of Kiprusoff off Wellwood was simply amazing. Both teams had better than 40 shots. Good to see Iginla get one. Classiest guy in hockey IMHO. It's just too bad the Canucks are turning things around and WILL beat Calgary for tops in the Northwest Division. :)
  8. I keep mine locked away in a secret sub-basement. They've never been a problem so far. :) Seriously, I think mine are angels (16 yr old son and 13 yr old daughter). I tried to raise them right. As they've gotten older they've been allowed more latitude and freedom, along with more responsibility. I don't know if it's making a difference or not, my daughter is almost exactly like her mother, and my son is just like me. All you can do is love them, provide encouoragement and support, give them the tools they need and let them know what you expect them to do with them. After that, there's not much you can do but send them out into the world. It's not important that they live a perfect life, what counts is how they deal with and learn from their mistakes.
  9. From what I understand, the cold temperatures are needed early in the winter - October through early December. After that the larvae have produced a sufficient amount of "antifreeze" in their bodies and then it takes at least 2 solid weeks of -40C to kill them.
  10. It's worth noting that there are are 5 operating coal mines in the Elk River drainage and no-one is suggesting that those mines are having a detrimental effect on the Bull Trout in that system. By all accounts the population is very healthy. Lets be clear about this, the opponents of the mine are using Bull Trout as an excuse to oppose the mine development. If coal mining could not be carried out in a manner designed to have a minimal impact on Bull Trout (and Westslopes), then the Elk River would be a lifeless sewer and not perhaps the best westlope river in N. America.
  11. I stand by my predictions!!! Particularly the one about beating Calgary twice!!!!
  12. Yeah, after we pound Calgary in the last regular season game, you'll have to come to our house to get your b utts kicked. Then it'll be off to Calgary to squash the stamps again before heading off to Montreal to massacre the Eskimos in the Grey Cup. Remember, you heard it here first. Go Lions!!!
  13. I agree, the Bertuzzi call was perhaps a bit harsh. A marginal penalty that should have had a diving penalty to the Canuck player as well. The ref's had a golden opportunity to even things up with a call on Burrows, but the whistle stayed in the pocket, and he sets up the winner a few seconds later. But that could be called a make-up for the penalty on Luongo. Luongo never touched the guy yet got nailed. It all balances out in the end, and in the end the Canucks won!!!
  14. Good to see that no-one is crying again. We let you keep one point, be happy with that!!!! You've got Colorado and Edmonton next, take out your frustrations on them.
  15. You will never find a fondness for Keenan. No matter how well the Flames do, he'll still be a miserable pr!(k. Seems to get results though (except with the Canucks that is).
  16. No, no, lets talk about the game in detail. :) It's only preseason, my Canucks have plenty of time to crash and burn, but so far are looking good. Since this may be my only chance to gloat all year........WE SURE WHUPPED YOUR ASS REAL GOOD!!!! Next time, use a living, breathing goaltender and not a cardboard cut out. Who was that pylon that Mason Raymond skated round several times....oh yeah, Phaneuf!!! There, that felt good. You guy's are going to love Bertuzzi........on some nights, and hate him on others. He has a tendancy to play well for a stretch of games, then take a few nights off. If he sticks on Iginla's line all year he will do well.
  17. And I love that you live in a different Province yet believe that anyone in BC should have less input into management of BC's resources than you. Also, that you actually seem to believe that whats Alberta's is Alberta's. and what's BC's should also be Alberta's. Give your head a shake. And if by "a few select citizens" you actually mean the entire population of BC, then I agree with you.
  18. The Vedder is like a magnet to keep the idiots off other streams. Alberta should look after it's own rivers and quit complaining about how other Provinces look after theirs. Alberta has some fantastic fishing and many people from BC would pay more to fish there. Alberta is missing the boat in this regard. Do you realize that it costs me less to buy an annual Alberta fishing license than one for at home in BC? I can guarantee you one thing, if Alberta one day decides that fishers from out of Province have to pay more, anglers from BC will not attempt to organize boycotts of Alberta businesses, or whine and snivel that some steps are being taken to protect the resource. We'll still come to fish, we'll still patronize you fishing stores, still hire Alberta guides, still shop for groceries and still buy your gas (like we have a choice on that one ). For some perspective though, how much does it cost to play a round of golf compared to fishing for a day on the Elk. Ah you say, but Albertans and BC'ers pay the same for a round, to which I reply, yes, and everyone pays a lot!!! How about this, you send us a big slice of your oil revenues and we'll let you fish the Elk for cheap. Sounds stupid, but the point I'm trying to make is that each province manages its own natural resources to benefit it's own citizens. I don't hear anyone clamouring to send BC any of Alberta's oil revenues, so why should BC give away access to it's resources for a pittance? There's no real difference.
  19. Hah....thats nothing!!!!! http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/2008/06/cha...m_the_fl_1.html
  20. I tried one for just one day this past Spring. The line wore a couple of grooves in my finger, and a section of the line turned a nice red colour. I could cast an extra few feet with the line, but the noise bugged the heck out of me. I think its a good line for for some applications, but not for mine. I got rid of it.
  21. This thread has gotten way off topic, so lets get back to the subject at hand. When did Alberta annex the Fernie area?
  22. I'm not sure if it's the same in Alberta as it is in BC, but here we have had a long period of declining license sales. Whether that is the cost or fewer Alberta/out of Province anglers I don't know. While I would love for there to be a fisheries knowledge test, such a requirement would probably reduce licence sales even more. At this time, fishing needs more friends, not fewer. The East Slope is a beautiful area, and I spent a three days fishing there last year. I plan on visiting again this year.
