Hope None Of U Were Fishin The Confluence Last Night
LynnF replied to a topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Was wondering why the river was a bit off colour yesterday -
Here's my rule for everything: if you can't afford to replace it, don't leave it where it can be taken. We live in a city of over a million people. It isn't the Calgary of 10 years ago. Even for the convenience, I sure wouldn't pack my gear around.

Wow Birchy...you must have a good constitution to be up and around already! Glad it went well and you're back on your feet!

OK Birchy....that's the first one of your bad jokes I've laughed at. Very good. Nice to see you BTW
-
Hey Taco.....Clive loves these kinds of jokes. Dare ya to send it to him

How Many Years Of Fly Fishing Experience On This Board?
LynnF replied to birchy's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Gosh....9 for me this year....and I still fish like it's my first year -
I ain't never had a Friday night funk that bad that I would go searching for a video like that. I watched the whole thing. I know all the words. I'm going for sushi now.

I'm having major surgery too...but I've scheduled mine for the offseason I'm gonna let you guys know which hospital I'll be in so that you can tell me who to seek out there when the time comes. Funny

A successful rancher died and left everything to his devoted wife. She was a very good-looking woman and determined to keep the ranch, but knew very little about ranching, so she decided to place an ad in the newspaper for a ranch hand. Two cowboys applied for the job. One was gay and the other a drunk. She thought long and hard about it, and when no one else applied she decided to hire the gay guy, figuring it would be safer to have him around the house than the drunk. He proved to be a hard worker who put in long hours every day and knew a lot about ranching. For weeks, the two of them worked, and the ranch was doing very well. Then one day, the rancher's widow said to the hired hand, "You have done a really good job, and the ranch looks great. You should go into town and kick up your heels." The hired hand readily agreed and went into town one Saturday night. One o'clock came, however, and he didn't return. Two o'clock and no hired hand. Finally he returned around two-thirty, and upon entering the room, he found the rancher's widow sitting by the fireplace with a glass of wine, waiting for him. She quietly called him over to her. "Unbutton my blouse and take it off," she said. Trembling, he did as she directed. "Now take off my boots." He did as she asked, ever so slowly. "Now take off my socks." He removed each gently and placed them neatly by her boots. "Now take off my skirt." He slowly unbuttoned it, constantly watching her eyes in the fire light. "Now take off my bra." Again, with trembling hands, he did as he was told and dropped it to the floor. Then she looked at him and said, "If you ever wear my clothes into town again, you're fired."

You dipping into the painkillers a bit early there Birchy? This is good news though....something to do tonight after all!
-
Best wishes Birchy - I'll toast to a speedy recovery for you tonight! P.S. I have plenty of bad jokes if you want me to fill in for you

Small part of it is open again, but not the majority of it. I'm gonna make a call to SRD this morning - apparently the rain we're getting here did not make its way down there from what I've been told.
-
I dunno....doesn't it look a bit like a good video game to you guys?????

The guy is the master of the double haul - I'd love to be that good at that one day. Left and right handed casting - another gift. I only know of one other who can do it equally as well with both arms....I think Taco calls him crybaby

I LOVE those sturgeon pics....sturgeon rock....one day. Where'd ya catch them Clarki, on the Fraser? All these pics are so great - the colours on some of these fish are amazing. I'm not even paying attention to the size
-
that was just awesome. The guy makes it look effortless....barely moved a muscle. Wonder if he'd still make all those moves with a triple nymph rig setup attached. Betcha that was a 2 weight rod and a 6 weight line . Kidding....he's very gifted. I think that guy must be CHUCKNORRIS...he's so tough at casting he looks like a sissy. On our float yesterday, we watched some guy fishing dries off the bank that used the water to load his rod on the backcast, which looked strange for the first few casts but made sense after. I must say that his presentation was absolutely not lacking in length, accuracy or finesse, either.

Fire Ban? What Fire Ban? Waiporous Aug 5
LynnF replied to bigalcal's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
WTG Mr. B....there's no way those guys couldn't know there wasn't a fire ban, so shame on them. Heard on the radio this morning that the bans and closures worked as they only had a couple of small fires to contend with that were easily extinguished. -
Wow....great story Rick.

We floated Douglasdale to Mac yesterday. Saw one floater - a 17 inch rainbow. Was kinda cool seeing a hawk diving for it a couple of times but coming up empty. Caught a couple of big fish and, after an abbreviated fight (i.e. I horsed them in ), they swam away with as much spunk as they fought with....no lethargy at all. Closer to the banks the water is warmer, but overall I wouldn't say that it was all that warm yesterday. Mind you - you wouldn't know by all the friggin' weeds. Again. Hey Birchy...what time were you at Police? Was trying to figure out who was across the river as I sat down and watched my dog eat my sandwich.

If it wasn't for work, there would be no fishing. So for the next 8 years or so, until I can plan a full fledged retirement (unlike my buds Taco and Schaupmeyer), work will have to come first. Ya...sucks too. And, honestly, I've never called in sick to go fishing. There must be something wrong with me I guess
-
Hey Lonefisher, Thanks for the suggestions re Waiporous. We spent some time exploring the different areas north that we could go to, but it just doesn't seem like the answer. If nothing else, we realize one thing out of all this - it's really not all about the fishing. It's about being where you want to be. Down south is our "second home". We love it there...and no place else really feels the same - know what I mean? Other than the interior of B.C. for Mike, there's really no other place we want to be, so we'll just wait it out and see what happens. Bottom line is that I certainly don't want to be stuck somewhere where me and my family are not safe, so we'll deal with it. And if we have to spend 10 days fishing the Bow catching big trout, then I guess I'll just have to suck it up
