  11. Beautiful fishies there!!!! Brook trout are my favourite fish. Therefore you should take just me and no one else. Besides......forget that crap Czech beer - I have a dozen Sol and Modela Negro and one lime with your name on it. PLUS I'm a chick - and we all know that chicks keep secrets way better than nasty boys
  12. Was just thinkin' to myself today "I wonder what kinda trouble Clive and his bud have been gettin' into these days". Now I know. But I didn't think that becoming carniverous bush dwellers what what your fate was!
  13. My season was greeted with the arrival of my gorgeous granddaughter. Marred by the closures which hindered our beloved fishing of the mountain streams down south. Enhanced by the outstanding 2 weeks of fishing we had on the Bow in August and ended far too soon due to issues related to an upcoming surgery for me. But next year: an all expenses paid trip salmon fishin in the QCI with Mike and one of his customers. If I do nothing else, I think that will be the highlight of my season and I'm looking forward to that more than anything I ever have. So my sad ending to the season has a happy beginning for the next. And to those who have overcome health issues this past season - congratulations. I hope to count myself as one of you very soon
  14. Could be that I have had too much to drink, but that friggin' ROCKED MY SOCKS!!! Thanks for putting my beautiful little granddaughter on there MTB....I hope she does become the next generation. You've earned yourself a float down the Bow in our boat next year for that - uber cool!
  15. I'd like someone to spend an hour with me one-on-one to teach me how to double haul. I can watch all the videos and read all the books on it, but until someone shows me, I won't be able to do it.
  16. That's just bloody awesome Birchy.....your 15 minutes as a rookie no less!!!
  17. Petro Can announced they are proceeding with $15 BILLION dollars worth of projects on Friday. That's a confidence booster for sure.
  18. The numbers guy in my co. said that there are still some crucial numbers that haven't been released but to a chosen few such as the "sliding scale" formulas. Companies are not going to do anything until the crunching is done. Give it a couple of weeks for that to happen. Calm before the storm I think. Not if you're Petro Can though, I guess with their announcement yesterday.
  19. that's awesome Birchy - way to go!
  20. Hey.....isn't that the magazine he wrote that article for that he asked us to preview for him a while back?
  21. MMAX: From what I read and what I was told (after a month of research before buying), HDMI is simply the best (right now) high definition cable there is. And it costs big right now, but the price will come down as it always does. I don't know about these "monster" cables (I thought that was a brand name and assumed that's what we bought). And Nick - thanks. I know I could bypass the receiver but it would involve new audio and video cables and, frankly, it's just too difficult to get to the ports on the TV now that it's hanging on the wall. And I found out afterwards that the standby on flat screens sucks a big amount of power (even though we bought an LCD). Funny they never mention that when they're selling them to you.
  22. Well I'm glad I wasted my time watching the Canucks falls to the Red Wings instead of watching the drizzle that came out of Ed's mouth. Apparently he's holding a news conference tomorrow where he'll spill the beans and give details. God...this is like ramping up for the finale of a season-long sitcom only to find out the real finale is a week later. Now I know why I hate politicians.
  23. Yer gonna love the Aquos.....we did a ton of comparison shopping between all brands and this one was the winner hands down. Congrats on your purchase and good luck finding an HDMI cable that won't cost you more than your TV!
  24. Little kids with big fish win. The End. Nice fish Biff!!
  25. We run cable from the receiver (an Onkyo if that means anything to you) which means that in order to watch TV you have to have the receiver on. Got one of those Polk Audio sound bars that sit underneath the TV and separate subwoofer that is supposed to give you the "surround sound" experience without all the speakers. I don't know that I agree with that (our surround sound in our basement is better IMHO) but it sure does kick ass for watching movies. Listening to the IPOD or the stereo doesn't cut it on that though so we'll be shopping for new speakers come Boxing Week. I digress (I get so excited when I talk about our system!). I don't know that I really like the fact that the receiver has to be on all the time to watch the TV because, frankly, it's become our main TV and it's just not necessary to be watching Naruto or Family Guy in surround sound. Plus the electricity bill is WAY up with everything on and when it's not on, it's on standby power. I'm astounded at the increase in the monthly bill since we installed all this I guess the bottom line is that if we didn't spend so much on the system and get such a good deal on the HDMI cable, I probably wouldn't have done it. But it's sure nice looking at the back of the cabinet where all those wires used to be!!
