  1. that's an awesome story Rick....and that pic is amazing! We had the same thing happen this year, except the fish was about half the size and jumped so close to our boat it practically jumped into it. Hmmm...invasion of the asian carp maybe? I REALLY like that idea for a logo. Would probably be a bit complicated for the embroidery, but the concept is really awesome. P.S. I wasn't the idiot zodiac'er in the story
  2. berry good T-Man. Happy Birthday to you, old fart. You and Schaupmeyer gonna room together at the old folks home?
  3. Well it ain't Tiger Woods or the Golden Bear, so let's get the hell outta there.
  4. They look so lovey dovey - not at all the way Brian described it
  5. Dave's got 3 dirtbikes now. I'd be worried about him dirtbiking all over me in revenge if I tied that good
  6. I absolutely ADORE newborns. She's perfect, just gorgeous...inherited her mom's good looks I see . 3 days old - you and mom must be good and tired now. Enjoy her while she's small - they grow oh-so-quickly. Thanks for posting a pic.
  7. That's it....I'm calling in Chucknorris to kick your ass now
  8. YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!!! Mike and I were thinking about you guys all weekend......how wonderful to have a little pink baby! I'll spare you my 72 hour labour story and say that I can TOTALLY relate to Leah's pain. But it's all worth it (well...until they turn into teenagers anyways ). Congratulations to you all - hope you will post pictures of your beautiful new addition very soon. I look forward to meeting her at the dog races next year
  9. Pete Zahut and his wife are due tomorrow if memory serves. ANY WORD YET CHRIS??????????????????????????
  10. Brian, You know those times you went jewellery shopping? THOSE are the times you have won arguments. Cuz we let ya win
  11. 3 times...2 different rods. One not charged for as it was a guide that came unglued and therefore a manufacturing defect. All's I'm gonna say is this: you get what you pay for. I'm not saying TFO are junk, but let's face it. They're affordable, their warranty is good and there's a price to pay for that.
  12. From one winner to another - CONGRATS BOB!
  13. Gosh....I never noticed before, but you're right Tiana....Maxwell is a little cutie isn't he?
  14. That's unfair! They're both so beautiful....they both appeal to me in many ways and I can't honestly say I prefer one over the other. So let's see...who do I like better Honestly...how do you decide with something like that? Works of art gents....truly beautiful flies.
  15. A couple of things here just don't make sense. Why isn't the SRD website updated? (http://www.srd.gov.ab.ca/) Why, when you talk right to the people at the SRD office in charge of all this, numerous times over the past month, they all say the same thing consistently: 50mm of rain in the area to consider reopening: and then all of a sudden 20MM of rain IN SPOTS is good enough? Sorry....I think someone's got their head up their ass on this one and I really hope it doesn't come back to bite them. This makes no sense to me at all and is totally irresponsible. I won't be going down there for the long weekend. I don't care if they say it's OK...I don't believe it to be a safe situation to be in right now.
  16. One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book. Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?" "Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, Isn't that obvious?) "You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her. "I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading." "Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. "I'll have to take you in and write you up." "If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman. "But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden. "That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment." "Have a nice day ma'am," and he left. MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think.
  17. I know a seasoned elderly fly fishing lady that used to fish it regularly. But I think it's an early season creek - water gets pretty low in there pretty quick.
  18. I'll bet I know EXACTLY which pathway you came down and where you fished. Argentinian red huh? I've recently broken out of the "I love Okanagan wines" box and ventured into some Chilean and Chianti's that are awesome. I'd be up for some Argentinian. Me and your old lady could try out a bottle while you and my old man give the other bank anglers something to talk about (since he's picked up the walk and wading bug BAD). I'll get back to ya. Sorry for adding to the threadjack Birchy. How's your new baby doing anyways?
  19. Me? Condescending. No way Jose. I may be sarcastic, bitchy, opinionated, passionate, emotional, strong-willed, forceful or aggressive....but NEVER condescending Thanks for the invite for night fishing...but I have a pair of waders that not only have a big hole in the arse, but that leak from the feet something fierce. And when my feet get wet, I get cold. That's where the bitchy comes in But I'll take a rain cheque for next year when Santa will have brought me new waders (HINT HINT HINT HINT)
  20. Ya....snow and sub zero temps at night in the mountains is a good bet. 10 - 15 degrees in October? I've had days cooking a turkey for Thanksgiving where I've experienced that, but I don't know if I'd count on those types of temps for that time of year. The weather here is anything but predictable and seasonal values mean nothing. Don't mean to rain on your camping trip, just want to make sure you know what you're in for. I guess if you are prepared for any and all scenarios you'll do just fine. We can have a fabulous fall here in Calgary, but it's usually pretty shortlived. If you want southern Alberta (which would be warmer than northern obviously), Livingstone Falls, Dutch Creek and Racehorse Creek off the Forestry Trunk Roads are good campsites (FYI, they just re-opened today apparently after a month-long closure due to extreme fire hazard). If you want something not way up in the mountains, then the campsite at Lundbreck falls in the Crowsnest Pass is nice. The Crow in the fall can be "cosmic" from what I've been told by an esteemed board member. Your opportunities really are endless if there are no closures. And you won't find crowding at that time of year to be an issue. Just gotta figure out if you wanna go north or south and fish rivers or lakes.
  21. I like Brownstone's idea too. See...I'm easy But if Dave's gonna go with a reel/fly pic, then the Islander reel is the one that HAS to be in the logo.
  22. Hi Rick. How are you doing today? How's the fishing been lately? Done any good videos this week? How's that....feel better? And, no, I don't want any of your kids. I don't even want the ones I've got.
  23. That just doesn't sound right to me. When Mike talked to that SRD guy he said (and the woman I talked to confirmed this) that they do numerous tests on the land etc. to determine the fire hazard and what actions should be taken. They still have had no precip since that time when the BIU was 135 and, even with overnight moisture, cooler night temps or whatever, there's just no way that this number could have come down enough to make it a safe area to be right now. I'd love to know how they arrived at this decision - and it really just can't be from pressure from the city. Imagine this - the forest goes up in flames, hundreds or thousands of people get trapped/injured or, God forbid, killed, and the answer was "well the city pressured us". I don't buy it. And I won't be going down there even if it is open.
  24. A thought on this outdated video which, at times, is actually quite funny (although not intended to be at the time I'm sure). If anyone made a video today branding a child predator as a homosexual the way they did in this video - numerous times - their ass would be grass. Very interesting how homosexuals were viewed/labelled back then - with the same disdain that child predators are today. And some 40 years later homosexuality has become an accepted way of life (depending who you talk to or what you believe I guess). http://video.sympatico.msn.com/v/en-ca/v.h...3549&fg=rss Oh ya....a tip from the video....watch out for strange men wanting to take you fishing
  25. I can offer up some great suggestions but before I do, do you know what the weather is typically like in Calgary at that time of year both within the city and in the mountains (if that's where you're thinking of heading)? P.S. Welcome to Alberta
