Well...some comes from there, but how about the tapered leaders, fishing line, and peoples old socks....I would guess that more people fish there from outside the reserve than residents of the reserve...in essence, fishermen are to blame too, not just the locals. And yes Brent, that is a great run through there. I guessed you probably had fished that area before.

This is the kind of thread that made me leave the "other" forum. It is also the kind of thread that makes me a little frustrated and concerned about the direction this board might be taking. I fish to relax and enjoy nature, and take part in this forum so that I can live vicariously through other members. Well, If I lived vicariously through some of you in this thread, I would have my head in a dark hole that smells a little like s**t.

Hit the wood today. Fished at one of the main access points along the highway, expecting to see few fish and even more garbage. Well, I saw lots of fish, and a s**t load of trash. Anyways, I caught a nice bow right off the bat on a little green humpy, and a few more cutbows on a little black copper john. The second cutbow I hooked, got nailed by a BIG bully that would not let go. I had to "guitar string" the flyline to make him move. He spit out the trout and ghosted back to his lair. Suprisingly the cutbow swam off no worse for wear!? That was it for fish, save for a 20" + cutty I hooked in some fast water on a stimmy, and there was no way to stop that freight train in the current he was in. I know, the one that got away right?

Directly below the dam can be good when the Bow opens in spring. I usually nymph, but have caught them on dries there as well. That overflow bay can be good after dark, a few big rainbows and the odd brown. I usually use a BIG leech pattern or something similar. As for in the lake, there are some very big Lakers in there, and some nice rainbows. Right off the face of the dam has proven to be fairly useless for me, as there are tons of people bonking fish, and SO MUCH garbage it makes me sick. This area is redneck fisherman central, so take a garbage bag with you please. If you want to catch the best fish in the lake, drive towards the springbank golf course, but don't turn right when you see the sign for the golf course itself, keep going north on the road, and you can acess the lake at the bottom of the hill, take waders and walk the shoreline. (run on sentence ) This is where the river comes into the lake, and there are much better fish up there.

As if Lone fisher, you caught that on a chiken wing...

I always carry my net...When I have forgotten it though, it was very easy to tail a fish, or cradle it, with no injury whatsoever to the fish. If you are uncomfortable tailing the fish, or cradling it, then use the damn net. Simple isn't it?

I'd be using small chironomids or nymphs as well. Use real light tippet in there, and a tiny corkie, or some sort of indicator.

Fish cat 4 is a great deal...you'd be perfectly happy with it. Deluxe is more money, as stated, but has an inflated seat, backrest, and you'll sit a little higher out of the water. As long as you aren't 300 lbs that is!
