  1. We should all have this info well at hand every time we head out! Report A Poacher (RAP) toll-free phone number 1-800-642-3800. I met the new conservation officer at FC during the Family Day holiday, his name is Cory (former RCMP) and had a great conversation about this sort of thing. Keep your eye's and ear's open folks, but don't take the law into our own hands, just be observant and diligent! Peter
  2. Any of you boy/girls have a good Winter Stone pattern... Rickr has inspired me... Cheeriodely, Peter
  3. Gary, I tied a couple of dem dar midges this aft (#18's - which is the smallest I've tied to date, not sure how you even see those #20's!!) Will let you know how they work in the next couple of days! Cheers Peter
  4. Though I haven't fished with him, yet... Gary will show you how to get'em (his reputation precedes him or his ego, not sure which )!! Good on ya, streamguy! Peter
  5. Nope, no fix as of yet - or at least none that anyone has suggested... Just have to bare with it... P
  6. They all have a high prevalence of "A D D", as well (I used to sell A D D meds) P
  7. Thanks for the descriptions Tim! Cheers! Peter
  8. Thanks Don... What about "ex post facto"? P
  9. Great info Don! Thanks! I have definitely heard about this before... Question (may be basic, but that's not a bad thing, now is it!!)... How does one determine whether their rod(s) is/are over/under weighted? Trial & error I suppose (and chucking a bunch of rod/line combos - may or may not be realistic), but is there any tell tale signs/symptoms, or hard and fast general rules to help one determine if their rods(s) are over/under weighted?! Especially newbie/beginner/intermediate fly anglers... Thanks, Peter
  10. Thanks Dave for the reminder! Safety 1st! Cheers! P
  11. Great photos Tako! Thanks for sharing! peter
  12. Has anyone else been experiencing problems with messaging on the board?! I have been getting messages being listed as "new" and then nothing in my box, then with nothing showing in "new" I have a messages in my box?! What gives?! Peter
  13. Bridge was still out last summer, not sure if it has been (or will be) replaced by next summer...
  14. If you have any friends of Eastern European origin, they might know what to do with them... "They" love those greasy whities... P
  15. Cheers! Peer
  16. Al, Are you able to post a photo to better illustrate what you mean?! Thx, Peter
  17. I've purchase from ebay (Kootnay fly fishing club has an online business to raise funds).... Pretty good value and quality - but obviously you can't choose individual flies and need to be happy with what they send you). P Kootnay_Fly_List.doc
  18. Colin, Thanks! P
  19. Hi Colin, thanks for the info... The crack is probably a cm or so. It would definitely need to be rewrapped as the original epoxy is what has flaked off and initiated it loosening up. Would you be interested in that task?! If so, how much would cost? ( $ or beer/wine/scotch, etc ;-) Cheers! P
  20. Hi Colin, Yes female end is cracked - does that mean it's pooched?! P
  21. Glenbow, Thanks for your input, yes I have even done the electrical tape repair, but was hoping for something more permanent and less cheesy (no insult intended to those who use the electrical tape repair ;-) P
  22. Can anyone recommend some where or someone that does (reasonable) rod repairs?! The rod I have isn't an expensive one and I would prefer to repair it rather then trash it, so that my girlfriend or nephew can then use it. It is a two piece and the female end that the ferrule fits into has loosened up (no jokes please ;-) so the rod comes apart 2 -3 times throughout a given day on the water... Or if someone has a reco on how to repair it myself, I would also appreciate that (epoxy, zap a gap, etc. to thicken up the ferrule end doesn't seem to work). Thanks in advance! Peter
  23. Did the same thing in Dec, but sent it to someone in AZ who's coming up next week! Bought 2 LA reels and and extra spool for under CND$300!! P
  24. Just bought 2 Orvis Battenkill LA reels a III (for a 5 - 7 wt) & II (for a 3 - 5 wt) plus an extra spool on the Orvis website for the same cost as just one here @ Monods in Banff (having a friend bring them up after Christmas). I have heard VERY good things about the Orivs Battenkill LA's (including a stellar warrantee/guarantee), plus the price is/was just too good to pass up (including exchange, tax & shipping)!! Check them out - stock is somewhat limited by now, I would suppose... P
