  4. cool tnx for the update. anyone got info on the ht. of the ice shelf @ mck? curious as obviously for some it's been managable to get a drift boat back on a trailer just wanted a sense of how much work it's going to be...
  5. good news congrats on the new gig.
  6. snopes.com is da bomb
  7. but...she's just so goshdarn smart...
  8. hey...i was at the airport yesterday picking someone up and we bumped into team bernard [who is better looking in person and shorter than i expected...but i digress...]. n e ways we were passing congrats to susan o'conner [3rd] who chatted with us briefly as we were admiring the bling. she took her silver medal off and let us hold it & we passed it around...the medals are fantastic looking pieces. way cool brush with olympic greatness!!
  9. that's why i was out fishing instead. i got a text update after it got tied up...then the phone died. i'll have to watch it on the pvr after the closing ceremonies, sounds like she was a good'er. classic end to an absolutely incredible games, i think this was a fantastic showcase for our home & native land. oh canada indeed.
  10. nice to see mr. martin & co. top off a clean run-up into a very well deserved gold medal.
  11. well put. 'cept for the last bit...
  12. free guard zone aka four-rock rule. i would agree the game got to her head, and she stopped doing what she's pretty consistently been able to do all year...make the clutch shots.
  13. yeah, steelheadin seems to fix a great number of problems for me too
  14. ha ha...more like he's stared down the barrel of that gun before. and he choked. unfortunate, bernard seemed to come unglued a bit. can't imagine what that pressure does to your head. ask the men's hockey team what the next 24 hrs will be like. yikes.
  15. not sorry for my outburst of un-canadian pride in seeing our team prevail over thier rivals. it has nothing to do with the long history of 'friendly banter' that's gone on in the past. i'm not sad she got to hear our anthem again. no question she's a very talented althelete. and gosh maybe even a wonderful person. i think she'll be ok too. too bad there's talk of her hanging them up, it's the talent on both sides that pushes the game to a higher level. also hope the event remains in the olympics. awesome to see our female athletes represented so well and leading the 'own the podium' charge. bernard gets a medal today. hope it's gold!
  16. yes jedi master...she is of the big shootemoffmouths clan.
  17. dear Angela Ruggiero, i hope those silver medal tears taste like ass.
  18. great post and thread. always wished i'd caught the fever earlier in life and lived the bum/guide lifestyle for a spell, but having said that i'm now at a stage with kids/dough/stabilility/career to begin to get out there more, but in a different way with a different lens and different expectations. does leaving work at 5 and heading straight to the river every evening in june for 11 days straight constitute as fishing bum behaviour? hell i'll still sleep in my sled beside the river and spoon with the dog if that's what it takes, but not for weeks and weeks on end and not to the full expense of other obligations and responsibilities [and that's a choice], so no i couldn't go every day-in-day-out all the time. and i'm good with that. i've already started ticking off the bucket list and in the next few years i forsee more and more vacays will revolve somewhat around fishing destinations & trips...i'm hoping to evolve into one of those, ah, semi fishing bums i've run into in my day.
  19. bet 98.7835999% of americans get all of thier facts about thier largest neighbor from pieces like that one... glad that one had some good perspective. tnx for posting!
  20. granted...i can't argue there are times the value is limited, doesn't seem to stop many people from doing it [gee wonder what the steelhead are eatiin? j/k] for interest or whatever. every single time i clean a fish i go through it's digestive system for that reason. i can see situations, like you are in new waters, or there's a feed frenzy goin on and you've got the wrong size/color [or maybe you're using barbs/bait/a 1wt]. case in point and i think where i can see it's practical application is the chirono show in a bc lake...often where chan et al have demonstrated the practice. so...if it's done incorrectly or even correctly what's the science that says hey sucking out the daily protien intake of a 22" trout does x to it's chances of making it through till tomorrow?
  21. wow... turned into yet another amazingly insightful thread based upon nothing to do with the subject that was posted.
