  2. what's the deal here? this global warming related thread has yet to be reduced to the usual blackballing of anyone works downtown, playground name calling, and quoting gobs of random meaningless data and stats up to prove my-dad's-smarter-than-your-dad, and all the usual hijinks. it's more like a thoughtful exchange of ideas and opinions between people who share a common interest. what the hell?
  3. sadly, many people who post have difficulty reading and seem to lack total common sense
  4. susan mk 2 gets me there & back she just got winter boots. happy.
  5. um, i second that. i just don't get it. got it all and so need to throw it away? live dangerously? needed cheap thrills? too much of a good thing?
  6. Elin Nordegren vs. Jaimee Grubbs? got to question the judgement there. lefty's probs laughing his ass off.
  7. sweet! as indie as you wanna be! good start. i had not checked magenta lane yet. here's one i was diggin for chillin around halloween but still in heavy rotation. the genre was described as haunted house.. fever ray - triangle walks fever ray is the sister half of band the knife the knife - we share our mothers health
  8. hey. spoon has a new album-mmm coming out, and while i really like them [dam sorry i missed them at sled island], got me thinkin' bout some other indie bands that maybe i need to check out. and maybe others i don't. so general discussion thread. maybe there are others out there who listen to local radio for any reason other than to hear new music. i'm into all flavours of stuff so what's good? what's new? whatcha listenin too? and if you call it indie and it ain't i'll call ya on it, so here's a litmus test: if soccer moms are blasting out the windows of the pt cruiser, it ain't indie-rawk, and if the 'tweens are sayin' they're they new billytalentless/deengrays/blinksum4182s/avrils, it can't be indie [or very good for you for that matter].
  9. one of the best things on tv in recent years period.
  10. the trek franchise had become very tired, dull and pedestrian. was in desperate need of a reboot, and taking a cue from the battlestar galactica 're-imagining' was a wise move. they really needed to return to the character-driven basics as the typical storylines/bad guys/federation is so wesley crusher. the last series enterprise had a dog on the show??? even t'pol the superhawt vulcan couldn't save that mess. i think abrahms did a good job, even my kids liked it and they don't dig on sci fi.
  11. ok, ok. this is for real. it combines some of my fave things: cake and dark rum. it's really simple: Rum Cake 1 - yellow cake mix 1 - (4 serving size) 1 3/4oz instant vanilla pudding mix 4 eggs 1/2 c cold milk 1/2 c vegetable oil 1/2 c dark rum Glaze 1/2 c butter 1/4 c water 1 c sugar 1/2 c dark rum Preparation: Preheat oven to 325 F. Grease & flour 12 c Bundt pan. Combine all cake indredients. Beat for 2 min. on high with mixer. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour. Cool in pan. Invert on serving plate. Prick top with fork [!]. Glaze : Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in water & sugar. Boil 5 min., stirring constantly, remove from heat and stir in rum. Drizzle glaze over top of cake & sides. its good to leave it for a day before eating. it will stay moist and the longer it sits, the better it tastes. but it usually doesn't make it past day 3 in my house.
  12. here's the cake i baked last time i was invited on the 'cake boss' show and won [yet again]... for ingredients i only had a 3 day old bucket of kfc, a tube of zap-a-gap, some almond paste left over from last season, 7 timmie's sugar packets i stole, a single robin's egg and a box of whole wheat flour [yes that's right, straight old german 1600 boys & girls]. i only had 17 minutes to preheat my hibachi, and as you can see my winning cake is... ...oh...
  13. an interesting little experiment regarding litter, maybe you've seen before: some other links on thefuntheory.com make an argument for positive ways to modify the genpop's attitudes & behaviors.
  14. very sad. you did the right thing. hopefully your son comes around i'm sure he will. i think many of us ff'ers first fishing experience was with a panther martin or a rapala or a 5 of diamonds or [gasp!] bait. unfortunately you will encounter that snotty elitist attitude in certain pockets everywhere, incl. on this board, but i would say the majority is a much more accepting lot. keep the faith brother!
  15. got sent this email... miracle coyote story
