  1. ok, ok. this is for real. it combines some of my fave things: cake and dark rum. it's really simple: Rum Cake 1 - yellow cake mix 1 - (4 serving size) 1 3/4oz instant vanilla pudding mix 4 eggs 1/2 c cold milk 1/2 c vegetable oil 1/2 c dark rum Glaze 1/2 c butter 1/4 c water 1 c sugar 1/2 c dark rum Preparation: Preheat oven to 325 F. Grease & flour 12 c Bundt pan. Combine all cake indredients. Beat for 2 min. on high with mixer. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour. Cool in pan. Invert on serving plate. Prick top with fork [!]. Glaze : Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in water & sugar. Boil 5 min., stirring constantly, remove from heat and stir in rum. Drizzle glaze over top of cake & sides. its good to leave it for a day before eating. it will stay moist and the longer it sits, the better it tastes. but it usually doesn't make it past day 3 in my house.
  2. here's the cake i baked last time i was invited on the 'cake boss' show and won [yet again]... for ingredients i only had a 3 day old bucket of kfc, a tube of zap-a-gap, some almond paste left over from last season, 7 timmie's sugar packets i stole, a single robin's egg and a box of whole wheat flour [yes that's right, straight old german 1600 boys & girls]. i only had 17 minutes to preheat my hibachi, and as you can see my winning cake is... ...oh...
  3. an interesting little experiment regarding litter, maybe you've seen before: some other links on thefuntheory.com make an argument for positive ways to modify the genpop's attitudes & behaviors.
  4. very sad. you did the right thing. hopefully your son comes around i'm sure he will. i think many of us ff'ers first fishing experience was with a panther martin or a rapala or a 5 of diamonds or [gasp!] bait. unfortunately you will encounter that snotty elitist attitude in certain pockets everywhere, incl. on this board, but i would say the majority is a much more accepting lot. keep the faith brother!
  5. got sent this email... miracle coyote story
  6. i think the conversation was around does eliminating fastfood drive thru's help to control litter. i had anectdotal evidence that yes in fact it had in jasper. which is a park coincedentally, which yes is in a prime wildlife corridor. huh, jeez if the park wasn't there, i wonder how o&g development, clearcut logging and surface mines would help protect the wildlife corridor. probs better? just wondering about that logic.
  7. not seeing tim's cups in ditches.
  8. he talks to me thru this message board
  9. i have friends there and it does, in fact make a huge difference. i don't think there are any in banff either?
  10. sarchasm. oh, the humanity.
  11. rum. i forgot to mention rum. how could i forget [oh yes, i drink rum, that's why]... i really enjoy a good amber or dark rum, and have tried about 40 different brands/types. actually i've discovered as you get to the top or premuim end of any spirit [vodka, gin, burboun] that money doesn't buy you happiness but it certainly buys you a better tasting glass of it.
  12. awesome. good news. so if the cups are recyclable, someone's still gonna throw it out the window, and it's trash. so...tim's coffe cups will biodegrade over time, the lids not so much. same with many other fast food outlets delivery methods. some of it does break down over time, some ends up in plastic island forever [and eventually your bloodstream, but that's another topic]. try counting superstore/safeway/coop bags or macd's drink straws in the bow river valley during the spring cleanup. or bic lighters. or bits of foam from meat wrapping. or the lid from any plastic drinking bottle. yes and tim's lids. and strabuxx too. range balls. etc etc. i'm just sayin don't just pick on timmy ho. he's not the problem, man. i'm also sayin that in general littering is a problem. and plastic, and overpackaging. betcha that with the recent pressure on stores there's way way fewer plastic shopping bags this spring, but there will still be some.
  13. as well as for some ffc board volunteers. i think shutting down drive-thrus, take out containers or forcing them to only use bio-degradable packaging altogether will help too. which there is usually a deposit for?
  14. dude! one of my all-time dream cars is a fully restored/tweaked 1800 es. got any???
  15. music. never was much of a player, but i have a pretty wide range of knowledge, an extensive collection and a [finally] some nice kit [well what i can afford]. when the house is empty, it's loud.
