Now that's good service. I wish I could say the same for Orvis. I sent them a rod in August and they sent me a confirmation letter saying they recieved it Sept 9 and that it would be fixed. That is the last I have heard from them and still no rod. What is the average time to wait on a rod after sending it in? Do they make it so painful to wait that you just end up buying a new rod the next time and not sending in broken rods anymore. The rod was brand new and the whole cork handle came ungludded and pulled off. How hard is that to fix? Sorry to hijack your thread but the title "Just need to vent..." made me think of it.

Great pics. Looks like you had a blast. Always good to prove the bait fisherman that you can catch fish without it. Thanks for sharing.

Didn't see previous post. I guess you can stock them here.

Saskatchewan also stocks Tiger trout. You could check with a hatchery there to see if you could purchase. I have fished for them in sask and they are a beautiful fish. Have caught them on buggers, evil weevil and caddis dries. I question whether or not the province would allow them to be stocked. You never know though. Worth a try.

I think your wrong Taco. Orvisonly would never float anything through here. He would bounce a 3 nymph rig through here. You know, "chummin" the forum.

Too funny bbt. Almost pissed myself. -
Nice pics. Looks like you had a good year. Thanks for sharing.

I think I would carry on the rods and reels. If they lose your luggage you can always fish in the same clothes everyday but you can't fish without rods and reels.

Looks like you are doing just fine with the gear you got. Nice pics. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like some great fishing. Might have to spend a little more time out there. Might be out there in mid October in the Qualicum Beach area. Any suggestions for fishing around that time. Thanks -
Thanks for the reply guys. Glad to hear you have had good experiences with warranty.

Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with Orvis rods. I have a brand new 8 wt that I fished twice when the whole cork grip pulled off the rod. I just sent it in 3 weeks ago and now the back end of the reel seat pulled off my 5 wt. I am not hard on equipment and always put my rods back in the tubes when finished fishing. It seems that the glue they use is just letting go. Anyone else having problems? Any experience with their warranty? I have not heard anything from them yet on the first rod sent in. I use my 5 wt TFO TiCr almost exclusively for the last 2 years and have yet to have a problem with it. I pulled out my 5wt Orvis to use once while I lent out my TFO and it comes apart. Go figure. Of course the rod that is easiest to replace never breaks.

Nice brookies. Definatley got to get up there one of these days. Not just for the good fishing but the scenery and the fact that a cell phone probably doesn't work up there. What kind of patterns were they taking?

Maybe next time just load up on fire works and NO beef jerky. They might just leave you alone if you don't have jerky in your pockets. Just kidding. One sighting for me usually drives me out of the area. Glad the fishing was good.

Thanks rusty. Not trying to cause any problems here on the board. This bully was alone in the pool and following cutties and whities around. Assumed was still feeding and preparing to go spawn. At what time should a person quit fishing for these guys? Caught lots of cutties and alot of other bulls in sizes from 10" to 24". These bulls were not as easy to catch or to get a strike from as one would think. Maybe it was lack of skill but we had to work for them. I know what you are saying about steelheading, salmon fishing and fishing for rainbows stacked up for spawning. Alot of people fish the Bow in the spring when the rainbows are preparing to make their journey. Should we all wait until June to start fishing the Bow so we don't harass them. Some might say they are fishing for Browns but they know that they will also catch rainbows. I don't know. Who am I to judge. I can tell you this bull was in a pool still chasing cutties and I did not pull him off a redd. He took me down to that water while I was fighting him. Sorry for posting the pictures if some were offended. I was kind of excited about catching him because he refused alot of different streamers and presentations but now I am kind of deflated.

Nice fish. Looks like you had a good time out there. Always good to see kids on the water learning. Are you sure you want to do that though. Christmas presents could become very expensive if she takes a real liking to fly fishing. Just kidding.

No pepper spray needed. He did lift his head and bite me though after taking the hook out to release him. Even drew blood. Almost to kind of get me back for catching him. It was a great trip with good company and all the beautiful scenery and good fishing was captured by Kyle in awesome pics and memories. Kyle even got some great video of the whole trip. Will definately have to do it again. We both learned alot about fishing for these beasts and a few late nights at the vise to create some interesting streamers.

You should try to keep them in the water for pictures. The dry sheets can remove the protective slime. Congrats.

Awesome shoots. Never get tired of watching cutties rise to food. Definately beautiful streams down there. Thanks for sharing.

tigershark. If you look around on ebay you can pick up the pflueger president reels for about $120 shipped. I have bought about 4 of them so far and really like them. Nice drag system on them for the price. Also owned a trion as my first real and liked it. Just upgraded to the larger arbour president because they weren't much more money. I have used the president in a 5 wt and caught some decent sized trout on it with no problems. Also used the 7wt president for pike and walleye and the drag worked really good for the pike. I also have a 5wt large arbour battenkill that I don't really like. The drag doesn't seem to be as adjustable and they feel like they are a cheaper made reel. I think they have changed they drag system on their newer model so I can't speak for it. just my 2 cents
