  1. Great shots. Some nice fish there. Thanks for posting.
  2. I know how you feel. It seems like a lot more people are making the trip down here from central and northern Alberta and degrading all our best fishing spots. We have to find a way to stop this before all our waters down here get so horribly degraded that we don't even get a chance at an absolute hog. I hate wasting my time catching 19" cutties and casting to big fish surfacing all over the place. Not sure what went wrong with the trip?
  3. Cool pics. Thanks for sharing. Some nice fish. Really like the shot of the Steller Jay.
  4. Nice pics. Thanks for sharing. Must be easier to get away and go fishing when she wants to go to.
  5. Thanks for the comments guys. Beed: That was exactly what I was thinking when I landed him. Definately a different shape to his head than most rainbows I catch. Shaped like some of those big old browns the guys pull out of the bow. Terry: definatley didn't have any slashes under the jaw like the cutties. Looked all rainbow to me but I could be wrong. Didn't hold him too long to study him. Couple pics and right back in.
  6. Wow. Beauty fish. Congrats. Would love to float some time if I could just get away from work for a while. Looks like you guys had a good day.
  7. Thanks for sharing. Pretty cool idea. Great way to get kids involved and teach them about our waters and fish.
  8. They turned out nice. Talented with a camera for sure. Looking forward to our next trip out. Heading north for work for a few days this week. Will let you know how things go up there. Hope to get out fishing a couple evenings.
  9. Caught this nice looking Bow down south. Pretty small water. Was a nice suprise because I normally only see cutties up this far. I won't reveal what I caught him on. Sorry SupremeLeader but I am enjoying everybody's pics lately and thought I would throw one on.
  10. Pick up one of these cradles. Best way to handle pike. There are a few other brands a guy can get and I am sure they all do the same job. Caught some monsters that were easily handled with a cradle. http://www.wholesalesports.com/storefront/...prod227778.html
  11. Nice pics. Looks like a good month.
  12. Just a thought. Could the increase in the number of anglers on the water this year have something to do with the thousands of people who have not been working in the oil patch. Drilling rig utilization is somewhere around 19% for the province and service rig utilization is around 35% i think. This is just the rig division. You have so many other positions in the patch that I know are slow also. I know guys that are working for us have not been working much and have instead actually been enjoying summer. Getting out camping with their families and yes, going fishing. Normally our guys stay busy and don't have time to get out and do anything. Just my two cents.
  13. Beautiful pics. Love the spots on those browns. Thanks for sharing.
  14. I don't know what Orvis warranty is like on their reels but I have sent back two different second hand rods with no warranty cards and have had them both fixed for free. They fixed one and sent me a brand new rod to replace the other one. You could always phone and ask.
  15. Nice pics Kyle. Looks like you guys had a good day. Looking forward to getting out soon, even if it will have to be close to home. Get the Gator gear ready.
  16. Very nice pics Beed. Good start to the year. Always enjoy your pics. Keep them coming.

    First Pike!

Congrats on your first pike. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Those are amazing shots. Thanks for sharing.
  20. I think your right Hawg. I have been thinking the exact same thing for the last couple of years. I think the seasons have shifted.
  21. Nice fish. Sounds like you had a good time. Went out with Kyle the other night on a lake we have never fished. Steady action but nothing over the 5 - 7 lb mark. Some acrobatic ones that took to the air. Thanks for sharing storey and pic.
  22. I always use a metal leader. Doesn't seem to bother the pike. After catching a few pike and looking at your steel leader you will be glad you put one on. I use one for walleye too back in Sask. because there is always pike in the area and it doesn't seem to spook them either. The water is usually off color though so that may be why the leader is no big deal. Good luck. They are a riot on a fly rod.
