  1. You might want a rooster cape rather than a hen cape for dries. Either, way, They are good quality hackles, and well worth the price IMHO.
  2. Great job everyone. Good to see more people tying up flies for the contest.

Thanks Headscan For patterns posted on the forum here and on FACA, right click them and save as into the C:\Program Files\FlySource\FlySource Files\flys directory.
  4. I have it on DVD. Jim gave a copy of it to the NLFT a few years back.
  5. I've got a couple #3 capes and they are pretty good fro dry flies. He'll likely be at the show in january, it might be a good time to pick some up there. He has some nice cree stock as well.
  6. Cool, I haven't gotten my copy yet. I'll check it out once it arrives.
  7. Have you heard what this one is going to be about?
  8. I just heard news that Jim McLennan has a new book coming out early next year called "Water Marks". I didn't hear what the content of the new book is yet, but I think they are going to release it at the Western Canadian Fly Fishing Exposition at the end of January. I just finished watching his Iron Blue TV show he had a while back and reading the Trout Streams of Alberta not long ago. I'm looking forward to reading this. He is also supposed to be doing some book signings around the Calgary fly shop after it's released.
  9. That is a sweet looking fly. I love the 360 degree viewing, that is killer. I agree with AC in the pattern description. I think the ostrich is likely tied on with a mono rib on the bottom, perhaps 3-4 herls in what looks like a callibeatis colour. I'm thinking that the feelers may actually be a cree hackle and they look stiffer than the partridge. Either way, I think they look awesome.
  10. Another blog I find interesting is moldy chum. http://www.moldychum.com
  11. it took you a week.... lol You need more practice decorating.... How long would it take to build this?
  12. Nice fly Kid, it's tugworthy(©) indeed. Don't fish this one, put it in a safe spot and tie another dozen.
  13. Those look pretty good. If you pack the hair a bit tighter, and use deer belly if you have it, they will have a fuller look. The packing is something I have trouble with, bit makes a pile of difference and will give the fly a lot more floatation.
  14. Have a happy one. Just like Lynn mentioned, you should have a couple things coming your way.
  15. Get a subscription to a few magazines. I usually get a few every year, the gift that keeps giving. Fly Fusion, Fly Tyer, Trout Fisherman and Fly Fisherman are my favourites. Forgotten Flies is a killer book to have. I'm looking for it's big brothers, Rare and Unusual Fly Tying Materials Vol 1 and 2, but at over 500 a piece, it ain't gonna happen soon. The flies of Alberta book would be good for the fly tyer on your list as well.
  16. Nice flies guys. I can't tie terrestrials to save my life.
  17. It does suck a bit, but hey, I do get to fish for salmon, steelhead, gar, musky, bass, crappie and cats. No snow, but it's getting colder. the army is on standby just in case the 10cm is forcast.
  18. Thanks guys.
  19. Thanks all. Lynn, thanks so much for the steak. Everyone in the tent loved it
  20. It's great for nymphs. If it's long enough, streamers and clousers. I have some orange I can swap.
  21. Please give my wife a shout later today Lynn. (555) 493-3304 She doesn't know about the steak part of the deal.
