  1. Looks like a great set-up and the fish look well fed. Have you tested any flies on them yet?
  2. Ouch. Few of those look nasty. ie the skater over the gap and the building gap jumper....
  3. Here is my fav ghost video out there. There are a few other good ones, but most of it crap. Anyone else have some convincing pics, videos or stories?
  4. Wow, that's a lot. We'd be lucky to get 100 I think.
  5. You would need to take into account the diverse range of fishing in the country. BC, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and eastern Canada will have much different flies represented, with a common cross section. I would add a Glo-Bug, Blue Charm, Bomber and perhaps a sno-cone to the equation. Your list looks like a good representation of a southern Alberta box. Survey all the large suppiers as well as the smaller ones and you may get some unexpected results. I tie a few thousand flies for clients every year and the only one of those that registeres in my top 10 would be the Wooly Bugger (Including all the varieties I tie ) My Top 10 looks a wee bit different CDC & Elk Usual Alaskabou Flesh Fly Snocone Steelhead Hammer Black Stonefly Golden Stonefly Glo-Egg Wooly / Crystal Buggers So what is everyone else have for their top 10?
  6. It is Halloween. LE, don't post these pictures in this thread when they obviously belong in the "Bear" safety thread.
  7. Everyone gets baptized eventually. Usually more than once. Hopefully like that guy, your friends are around to... offer support and... take pictures of you to post on the internet.
  8. WOW! Vic knows his stuff, that's for sure. I wonder how long it wil take before other people start claiming this one for thier own. lol it happened a couple years back when a 1100lber was caught.

  12. Thread colour system is likely the best bet. I do something similar with mine. Orange = no weight, darker threads (Olive, purple and black) mean more weight.
  13. Have a good one - tight lines brother.
  14. I can't believe no body had anything to say about the passing of Mel. Anyway, I wanted to share a quote of his I received in the mail today. "Some time ago I was brought back to earth by an incident in one of my fishing schools. I usually show a movie call 'The Way of the Trout,' which concludes with a strong please for catch-and-release fishing. right after the final dramatic scene, which ends with the release of a large rainbow trout, an eleven-year-old boy impulsively jumped up and said, "I wouldn't let that fish go!' As he sat down, a little embarrassed, he explained,'I wouldn't let that fish go. I've never caught a fish that big.' In the awkward silence that followed, I realized that most of the people in that room - and, for that matter, he vast majority of anglers - wouldn't have let that fish go, either. I don't remember exactly what I said to that class and to that young man, but I do remember feeling awfully inadequate." Mel Kreiger in "The Essentials of Fly Fishing"
  15. If you are planning any larger purchases, I would act on it before the shops need to reorder from US suppliers. The costs are going up. Some of the manufacturers are also increasing prices to cope with higher production costs.
  16. Brent, the line isn't out yet, Have you tested it yet to recommend it to people instead of the monic? Just wondering if you have some inside info fronm the shop.
