SanJuanWorm Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 I thought he was gonna be the Centrefold. I assure you..............no one wants to see that. Looks awesome Chris. Thanks for the opportunity. This gives me inspiration to get back on the vise. Now that the weather is cooler too it'll be easier. When I get back from holidays, i'm gonna tie a special fly up. Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Congrats on getting some work published, dave! Quote
clarki Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 thats a nice looking hares ear, way to go!! LOL M Quote
OneMoreLastCast Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Well Done Dave. Feels good doesn't it? It's been a long time since I had anything in print, so I'm a little jealous, but happy for you. September 1st is too far away. I wish Fusion came out every two weeks. It's damn hard to find good reading material on the magazine racks these days. Quote
toolman Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Looking forward to the September issue as well. Congrats Dave and well deserved I might add. Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Thanks guys. This was 3 hours of work alone. Quote
Glenbow Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Nice work Dave, well deserved. Will you autograph my copy of Fusion? Quote
SilverDoctor Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Congratulations Dave for making the issue. Kodos to a great tier. Quote
SteveM Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Nice. Looking forward to checking it out, Dave. Quote
cdock Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Congrats dude! I've always loved those flies. Great workmanship indeed. Quote
yodatrout Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Nice work! That's a beauty and I appreciate it more now that I've seen what it looked like after three hours!?!?! How long would you estimate it took in total? Quote
LynnF Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 That's some kinda art Dave - very pretty. As someone who is married to a fly tier, I'll admit that I just don't get the whole thing. I could never, ever have the patience to sit there for hours on end only to tie something that might want up launched in a tree. It's clear you gotta have a passion for it. P.S. Dave - That fly goes well with my eyes. Can I have it? Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Lynn, for you? Anything. Here is a bigger photo. Lynn the shipping on this framed fly comes to 150 bucks. But i'll give you the fly for free. Combined i'd say this was about 6 hours or so to finish. The most work goes into creating a smooth tapered body. Each layer of thread and floss is added and then polished with a stone. Quote

SanJuanWorm Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 The reason I chose the name is because the wing goes from black to blue to red. From dusk til dawn. You can also bet that im going to buy 10 issues of next months magazine. Quote
rhuseby Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 3 hours for the underbody!!!!!! Man, I hate spending 20 minutes on a single whole fly. I like them to take less time to tie than it does for me to lose them. Gorgeous fly. Quote
Glenbow Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Taco, we should get along famously then. Dave, since you won't autograph my copy of Fusion I will drink your beer in lieu. Nice work as awlays bro. Quote
