birchy Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I've heard dryfly's name is Clive.. I've also seen him make really detailed posts about pike on the fly.. so is this Clive Schaupmeyer that wrote the "Pike on the Fly" article in Barry Mitchell's 2007 guide? Quote
toolman Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Birchy, you should pick up a copy of Clives excellent book, "The Essential Guide to Fly-Fishing". It's one of my favorite flyfishing books. Good illustrations, descriptions of techniques and tactics for trout and a section on other species such as pike. Quote
Taco Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Yup tis true and really not such bad guy for a retired Government spud scientist  Quote

I second that...............just start reading it early in the day, you'll be wrecked for work the next morning if you don't. I'm not a reader by any means, but I finished that one cover to cover one night. Quote
LynnF Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I second that...............just start reading it early in the day, you'll be wrecked for work the next morning if you don't. I'm not a reader by any means, but I finished that one cover to cover one night. That was the very first book I read when I was learning to fly fish and it was a truly invaluable tool. Plus that's how I got to "meet" Clive. I emailed him and told him how much I enjoyed his book and could I have his autograph cuz he's all famous and stuff. He likes that kind of stuff....it's good to feed Spudman's ego Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I got the book somewhere... NOT in alberta (bought it somewhere while I was trucking). At that point I had NO idea Clive was from Alberta, but once I started looking at the pictures in the book and seeing a lot on shots on my favorite river .... I'd highly reccomend the book as well... it's a great read. Quote
126barnes Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Where would you find a copy or two? Send Dryfly a PM, that how I got my hands on a copy. Quote
bloom Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I believe Clive mentioned that his 'best selling' book is currently out of print, but he may have a couple of copies at home. And I believe it really is only a couple. He'll pop up here sooner or later though. Quote
lonefisher Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Clives tears cure cancer as well..... unfortunately he never cries. JK yeah google Clives name and you will find literature from him as well as his websites and stuff. Quote
lethfisher Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Clive is a great guy! I was just getting into fly fishing and was interested in pike and Clive gave me all the info on them and even gave me some of his pike flies. Which work great by the way Thanks Clive!! Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Clive can leap tall buildings with a single malt. Quote
