Blue Toxic Algae, Eagle, Severn And Traverse

blue green algae is everywhere (can pretty well thank them for the existence of life.). Blame eutrophication for the blooms, not the algae. I'd suspect a lot of it is extra nutrients after the flooding pushing a lot of fertilizers into these reservoirs.

I remember reading that back in 70's one of the great lakes had this exact problem of this bloom covering the majority of the lake. was to be a complete loss of anything marine due to no oxygen. A green blue film much like oil base paint?

Turns out this was a direct result of any chemicals fertalizers etc... used on any nearby farms. rain would come, runoff would occur & boom major blooms choking out the lake.

They figured out the cause, set forth some measures & had a complete turn around in 2 -3 years.

My family and i spend some time @ Twin Vally & midway through summer the grass clipping bloom is extremly heavy, kids dont want to go in the water.

last year i saw a complete blanket of the blue green slime, very oil like around the launch area & seemed quite familier to the article I read.

In past years pre 05 fishing the sheep lower down , brown slime snot covering the rocks, kneel down any your stained up, lots of surrounding farms, ranchs etc..I guess thats the way it is for the sheep as for the lakes I dont go past end of July so dont really see it @ its worst but something to consider.
