SilverDoctor Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I've caught some wierd things in the Bow including a couple of Comet gold fish. Check this one out that one of our guides nailed. 2 Quote
Paula Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 LOL i took that photo on josh's phone So weird to see a random fish like that in the bow.. It was on deaths door Quote
Toirtis Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 That is quite disturbing. Assuming that the fish originated from a food store and not an aquarium shop, live tilapia usually come in poorish condition, then sitting in the sales aquaria they succumb to a lot of diseases....released into local waters, they stand a pretty decent chance of introducing some nasty pathogens into the native fish populations. DiabeticKripple Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 i hope it wasnt released. weird catch! Quote
bowbonehead Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Hopefullly Josh took it home for dinner Quote
fishinglibin Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 It is amazing how many idiots ruin a fishery because they want a fish they are familiar with in it. Start with 6 months in jail if you can prove it. And make them clean 10 miles of river shore and bottom. GOOFS!!! Quote

It looks like this is possible, the eroded fins and red lesions are typical. Not often they sell live fish though, they will usually gut them at minimum. Interesting that it happens right after finding Nemo is in theaters again isn't it. Quote

Actually, you are not far off...the potential fines for releasing a non-native species into the wild are quite high. 1 Quote

Sean84 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 There is a Tilapia fishery just north east of Calgary. Maybe they have learned to fly. Quote

Hawgstoppah Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Maybe we'll start seeing goldtallibowbrownbrookcutties, now that would be awesome! Too bad the Bullbrookiebows will eat them first before we would ever get a chance to catch 'em. Quote
