  1. Hey Pete I've done the chains (both directions) They are sketchy anyway you go about it.Just so you know ribbon lake is nice and all but not worth the hike if you know what I mean. lots of great water out there that doesn't mean taking your life in your own hands.
  2. Keeping your distance and calling in to fish and wildlife is ALWAYS the best action anyone should take. You will never know what situation can arise from confrounting poachers on your own.We all cherrish our Lakes, rivers and steams from an anglars point of view.Nothing is worth risking your life for.We have police to fight crime, firemen to fight fires and conservation officers to fight poaching. You wouldn't take it apon yourself to fight a 3 alarm fire would you. Just my 2 cents In saying all that I hope they catch the guys who beat this guy and throw the book at them.
  3. Hope it wasn't put back and hopefully reported.
  4. I've been fishing the wigwam for 6-7 years it's nice having specialized waters of that caliber for flyfishing only.I can't see someone bringing there kids and all that comes along with them on a 3-5 km hike thought a thick grizzly coridor for a day of fishing.keep to the trout ponds the only people that will venture in will be spincasters looking for a good photo op. Hopefully if this does go thought the fish and wildlife will increase there efforts to inform fisherman of all regulations regarding this and all bull trout rivers. To sustain the growing populations. They didn't get there today by mistake the management of specailized waters in my opinion is vital
  5. I have mine 8 to 12 inches above your top fly and yes they do screw with your cast takes some practice. good luck tightlines...
  6. Hey Newbie I'm not an pro but I do most of my fishing with nymphs so here's my 2 cents 1.my indicators are the foamy ones you attach to the leader I wouldn't use one you attach to your line reason being is this is how you can ajust depth moving the indicator up or down your leader. 2.My fav nymph patterns would include sj evil weevel prince bead heads copper johns all work pretty well all year long. 3. I find the most action where the water is changing in some nature slow to fast fast to slow riffles any formations and the ends of islands are keys for me at least. 4. the key to nymphing is alway matching the flow rate of the river you don't want your line dragging thought the run or ripping your nymphs and scaring the fish.you want the nymphs to look like they were pulled off some rock up stream and are following the natural river channels and current rate. 5.I use a 3 fly setup usually sj evil and a prince to start you may want to start with one or two as throwing nymphs is quite abit different than dries. You also will need some smaller sized split shot I use size BB one or two at the most depending on the depth and river rate. 6.floating line is just fine and is all I use on the bow you would only need a sink line on some of the bigger rivers or lakes. Hope this helps good luck and tight lines...
  7. Try that in Calgary... The smaller the store or the smaller community would (in my opinion) have alot to do with the level of service one receives. I've been to wholesale in lethbridge and was very happy with the level of service and would happily give them my business wholesale in calgary on the other hand..... Every time I go in there I come out pissed off and swear I'll never set foot in there again the problem I have is if you know what your looking for right out of the gate their the closest to me and the most economical. If I need help of any kind I will go to a smaller shop and get the service we all expect and deserve as a paying customer.Maybe the big names should put there "sales"staff on a percentage of sales so they pick up there boots. Glad your experience was great and I hope no one aphilates the problems we have in calgary with lethbridge. great store in the windy city....
  8. I started in a belly boat 6 years ago on the bow fished 50 or 60m times and not all were short flows glenmore too mckinnon would be a full day in a belly boat.I never had any issues with flowing you do need to watch where your going and watch for obstructions in the water, but no different than a pontoon which alot of fisherman also use and I have upgraded too in the last 2 years. If it was me I would invest in a pontoon you can get them at army and navy for about $150.00 for a base model.I feel alot more confident in a pontoon vs belly boat but if push came too shove I would have no problem jumping back in the old belly boat for a trip.here's a couple of ideas just my thoughts 1.first trip go for a short one a hour or two at most 2.buddy up!!! go with a friend one who had experence on the water your flowing 3.buy multi chamber watercraft pontoon being the best I wouldn't get in a dingy with one chamber if you paid me. 4.make sure someone knows where your going, your route and when your coming back. 5.bring a pump and patch kit with you on the water 6.WARE YOUR PFC most important piece of equipment can and will save lives everybody on the water should be in one. hope this helps have fun on the water....
  9. Hey Mark You may want to think about sharpening your hooks I'm no expert just replying on personal experience.I've taken up tying in the last few months and all the videos I've watch stress sharp hooks. It's helped me get more fish to hand. Good luck and tightlines
