troutsteaks Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Colour doesn't matter to me, I never get to see it. Terry Haha. That's awesome. I feel your pain. Quote
monger Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Terry when you catch those 28"ers you just have to back your drag to nothing and then pull really hard on the rod....the line just peels off and makes great hero noises. We watched a couple of guys doing this with 18" fish at Whitetail one day...it was priceless Quote
SilverDoctor Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Go to the fishing Hole, they have it, will bulk fill for you if you want. I like red backing. Quote
regdunlop Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Colour doesn't matter to me, I never get to see it. Terry Ha! Me neither. Last time I saw my backing was at the fly shop. Quote
EveretteD Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 i'm sure powerpro has some red line you could use as "backing" Quote

DonAndersen Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 See what happens when you fish in Alberta. You never see your backing knot. But, for whatever reason, BC, Sask, Manitoba, Montana, the backing knots show up regularly. Don Quote
Tungsten Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I wouldn't use red backing if i was loading it with a clear intermediate line, the color bleeds onto the line.No problems if your using a floater. Quote
SilverDoctor Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Weird, never experienced that one. Must be a non stable dye. I wouldn't use red backing if i was loading it with a clear intermediate line, the color bleeds onto the line.No problems if your using a floater. Quote
Tungsten Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Weird, never experienced that one. Must be a non stable dye. Ya thats what i thought also, wasn't really a big deal as it only tinted the first 10' or so.I try to get greenish colored stuff now for my clear intermediate lines. Quote
monger Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Hey Tungsten, I've got a chartreuse stained not-so-clear intermediate from some Cortland backing. All the cool guys have stained cleared lines... Quote
