SanJuanWorm Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Guys/Gals, I'm on the hunt for waders with NO NEOPRENE. That means no neoprene anywhere, except maybe the straps which I can replace. Does anyone know who makes a product like this? In the past i've ordered LL Bean's waders but mine are blown out. Please help as I am highly allergic to neoprene and love to fish. - SJW Quote
Timo Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I seem to remember waders at Bass Pro that had the boots attached. I do not believe they are breathable though. They were nicer than the old 1 piece rubber waders I had back in the day. But the boots were basic. Quote
DougC Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 What size? I think I have a pair of Bare packable waders without any neoprene I bought a few years ago but never ended up using. I cant remember if they are xl or xxl, but I'll take a look for them for you if you are in that size range. Quote
ÜberFly Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Yeah I remember seeing something on Kijiji (were originally purchased for a Halloween costume). And as previously mentioned the other option is the ones with boots attached. If you are interested I have some rubber "hip" waders with boots attached (almost new cond) I'd give you a great deal on (size 11). Don Anderson also uses the waders you describe, so he might be able to provide some specifics... P Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 Well see that's the problem with bootfit ones I think i'm allergic to rubber period. So I don't believe those will work either. DougC if you have a set lemme know and i'll have a look. Probably an XL would work. Quote
genn Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 these work for me. http://www.kokatat.com/product_detail.asp?code=ttp MEC is where i picked mine up. bought them for raft guiding. Quote
ÜberFly Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I would think that the neoprene waist band wouldn't work for him either. P these work for me. http://www.kokatat.com/product_detail.asp?code=ttp MEC is where i picked mine up. bought them for raft guiding. Quote
DonAndersen Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 SanJuanWorm, ÜberFly is correct, I use Red Ball Waders - no neoprene. Unfortunately Red Ball is no more. My waders are getting more than a tad ratty looking. Thank God Aquaseal still exists. I'm looking for a replacement w/o neoprene also. regards, Don Quote
Timo Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 SJW: Membrane drysuit possibly? Other than that we could gear you up in your riding leathers and then dip you in a vat of silicone. Sidi's sure would prove interesting to walk in the river with Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 Hmmm those MEC ones might work. I'd have to just remove the neoprene and find a seamstress. I may just coat my LL Bean waders with goop this summer. I'll keep the search open Don. Basically if neoprene touches my skin I have a poison Ivy like rash within days. Sometimes worse than others. The back of my Alpinestars riding suit has a neoprene neck. Very bothersome. Quote
Taco Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Friend of mine has the same skin sensitivity, he's taken to wearin' a pair of 13"-14" tall medium-weight smart wool socks and lightweight polyprop longjohns under his G3's and he claims to be good to go. He seems to have quit bitchin' about neoprene since.??? Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 Actually I found similar waders from LL Bean. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/64484?feat=...mp;freeText=gqs Quote
ÜberFly Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 If those work for you (your size, etc.), make sure to buy two pairs as they look like they are being discontinued! P Actually I found similar waders from LL Bean. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/64484?feat=...mp;freeText=gqs Quote
DougC Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I finally found mine. They are brand new Bare Packable waders size XXL, although they fit smaller than my Simms or Patagonia XXL's. The only bad thing is they are not breathable, just a coated fabric so they probably wont be the most durable or comfortable, but there is no neoprene. Let me know if you are still looking for some and you can have these. Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Doug, I'm 5'11" think they'd be too big? Quote
DougC Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I'm 6'1" and they reach about 5-6" from my armpits so they should be OK. If not, a seamstress could very easily shorten them in a couple minutes. Quote

jonny5 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Simms travel waders have not a drop of neoprene. Alergic to latex or neoprene? Quote
