We got lotsa small ones last year as well... I started Sturgeon fishin last year with some guys that have been doin it for years, and they say they have never caught so many small Sturgeon as of the last three years, so thats a good thing.... Ghost River "mystery"
beedhead replied to wheels's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
An old friend and I explored that whole area in my 4x4 couple years back.... Was truly epic country and adventure.... We never spotted any fish either..... We made it to the spot where it says no more vehicles beyond this point.... According to a map we were fairly close to the narrows of Lake Minnewnka.... We did however meet a few ice/rock climbers they mentioned it is one of the best places around to climb.... I might be able to find some pics, and post them... Cheers...Jeff.. Found some pics... -

LOL.... Honestly, I have bin thinkin off riggin up a big old fly rod with a Sturgey Rig If we find a deep pool And they are in close, and just kinda lobbing it out there.... Ill for sure to report if that happens!!... My one Buddy I work with says he knows a spot that it could happen, once the water comes down a little more.... He has caught Sturgeon in The later Summer right tight, about 10 feet out in a certain spot.... That would be cool.... Cheers...Jeff..

Hi All...The last few days, a couple buddy's and I have been goin for Sturgeon in the deep holes of the SouthSask. River Around Med Hat.... We have never tried for Sturgeon before, although we have caught some very small sturgeon the last few outings, but cant seem to intrigue the big guys..... So far we have used minnows, smelts, big herring whole, big herring heads, big hearing tails, rotten chicken, beef liver and chicken liver... We caught all the small sturgeon on minnows, however, we also catch lotsa unwanted Goldeye and Walleye on the minnows, and we are not looking for them species.. (My one buddy did get a 10lb Walleye).... Thats why I in particular, have bin using large bait so the little guys cant get it in their mouth, I can fell them peckin away, But Im waitin for the BIG PULL... Im thinkin since then show River Monsters has bin out, Its bin gettin me intrigued to fish this river more often .... I know there are some absolute Huge Sturgeon right in and around the Hat, I just hope I get to feel that Tug Drug...... Later on in the summers, when the water clears and lowers, we drift dry's for the Goldeye, thats a hoot... Any of ya's fish for Sturgeon?, or have any Ideas, suggestions or good storys??.... Thanx...Jeff..

I was blown away the other day when my buddy's daughter comes walkin in, and she had hackle in her hair, the very first thing I thought was "How the heck did she get into my fly tyin material?".... About that moment her mom says " You like??..Its a new fashion from the hair dresser" .... Im like, good god!!... It was a weird moment to say the least... I then explained to her that I use that stuff for flies.... Hope my oldest daughter dont get into the new fad, cuzz I dont have much hackle. .. But I think my buddy does..

Land Title Search/research

Would you mind sharing the links??.... Sounds very interesting... ... I should add- Its funny as this morn I was tryin to find on line who owned some land along the river, that I might want to camp on overnight, later this summer on a canoe trip down the SouthSask. River with my daughter.... Would like to at least let him know that I might be beachin along the river on a certain night, and to find out if he's ok with it, might save us some late eve. hassle... More Camera Advice...
beedhead replied to Smitty's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Smitty, If you have the Spring Issue 2011 of FlyFusion, There is an article "Capture And Release" By Al Noaker, And he mentions that his Go To point and shoot is the Olympus Stylus 6020..... I purchased a 6020 just prior to the Stylus 8010 coming out, due to the fact I had read the article, and the clearance price was way to good to pass up..... So far I really like the camera, other than it takes some getting used to, the settings are not easy as say, a Sony point and shoot, (and thats what I have bin used to over the years) however it takes great outdoor shots, fantastic under waters, super macros, and the panoramic setting is pretty cool too.... I also really like the 720 videos it records as well..... The 6020 also fared very well in Mexico for me in the salt water... The only thing I would change on the 6020 is to make it a little easier to operate..... Perhaps the 8010 is a little easier to get used to??... One thing I would suggest, is getting an attached floating case for any under water camera, my floating case has came in handy a couple times all ready lol ..... Good luck on a new camera.... Cheers...Jeff.. -
Sorry to hear about your stuff gettin ripped guy's..... I have had Fly Gear ripped off on 4 occasions, Its a shitty, gut wrenching feelin indeed, especially when you know the thieves have no use for it... The thefts still bother me on a daily basis, and some days I get a little wound up and start cursing, when Im lookin for something I need or had and realize that is now a stolen Item.... ..Jeff...
