no trout. and probably not great fishing from shore. there is a lot of close quarters with trees and bushes. the access at the bottom of the hill when you first walk down is about the only clear spot with nothing behind you. if i remember correctly there is a clear area to right on the far side i agree, quarry would probably be better. there is also bear pond but really only one good spot there to fish from shore also.

holy that is amazing. i had to look for the hook on some of those. try convincing fish and feather that you didnt catch a bug and thread it on to a hook. and here i was going to suggest using glass beads... never mind

Need Statistical Information On Bull Trout
ladystrange replied to Parry's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
really?!? that would be great. i have few contacts with fish and feathers, i can't promise anything but let ask around and see if there is a place with some actual stats written down. tough subject -
that is a great story and many great adventures i'm sure rickr. good on ya and keep fishing after my first full year, which was about 6 years ago... i think i had caught (and not necessariy in this order) my head, ear, back, hair, hat, all numerous times, my fishing partners', head, back and hand, a rock, too many trees, grass, a strange bug, a small child, a dog, an 18 ft log while fishing from a 14 ft boat, a plastic bag, a shopping cart, and one grayling did you know a plastic bag in a current will give a head shake? who knew. but it put up a better fight than the grayling hope to see you on the river

lees lake or beaver mines. lees is not too far south of the hwy 3 and 507 junction to beaver mines and beaver mines lake is off of hwy 774 on the left when you are heading towards castle mt resort, just before the sign that says castle mt and lynx creek camp ground after the town of beaver mines somewhere around 1/2 way to the ski hill. i know beaver mines is stocked with rainbow and i can only assume that lees lake is also stocked since i see people fishing in the summer there on my way to the carbondale. oh, i also saw a few in the trading post that were for sale in aug, take a look and see if they are still available. one was the Cat 4 deluxe model at a good price.

the water is pretty clear, kind of like fishing in an aquarium, you can see them and they can see you. i fished from shore last summer with no luck and not enough distance on the cast. i feel shame... next summer i will try with the Cat 4 to get out to the middle. got a great picture of a loon though. i did try leech, chronomids and brassies, but they just kept swimming past me. i swear they were sticking out their tongues...

humm that's a tough one. but i think i would have to go with toolman, i'd drag my mom with me. oh wait, i just did that... 2 weeks of my mother and she didnt want to go fishing. come to think of it, SJW idea is sounding better all the time. i should have gone fishing. -
wow, no wing blur... i so want the D200. plan - sell house, buy camera.
-
yep, thats the one. the pockets have lots of room and sit well out of the water -keep the smokes dry, also has drink holders that fit a large gatorade bottle. if you go to russells talk to kurt - he's great.
-
he could have sneezed and hit the breaks thus causing the accident and then he would be sneezy

why does the muppet show come to mind... -
i have a CAT 4. i think i paid about 150 for it. roughly. it is more of a u tube than a belly boat but has 2 pontoons rather than one that wraps around. you will need fins - $30 ish, chest waders $125 and up to whatever depending on what you buy. 5mm neopreens are nice but breathables work also if you wear longjohns or thermals, air pump dual action - $25ish, wading boots or boots that will fit your waders and you don't care if they get wet, any price range. i dont wear a floatation vest, but i dont drink and fish and i'm a strong swimmer, the cat 4 also has a 'seatbelt' so to speak. a friend of mine just bought a fly vest that has a co2 canister and the vest inflates when you pull the tab, kind of like the airplane life vests. cost was around 180 at the fishing hole but was recently on sale for 140ish or something like that. but now that i think about it slipping off and filling your waders up with water does not sound like a good idea. so probably advisable i have a blazer so it fits in the back cargo area no problem, if you have a hatchback with the back seats down, you shouldnt have a problem but the CAT 4 is bulky buecause of the foam seat, the deluxe modle i think has the inflatible seat and squishes down better. deflating is easy (turn knob and pull plug, then sit on it), blowing it up with the double action pump takes a no more than 5 mins. the benefit of the cat 4 or comparable is you are mostly out of the water unlike a belly boat but is compact and much lighter than a pontoon boat. but the pontoon boats do have more room for stuff except it wont fit in the civic and since they have a steel frame, if you have to walk to a lake - ie bear pond - it sux!!! big time. i think the base model pontoons start around 600 but dont quote me on that i was going to give you the wholesale sports catalogue but they are updating the fishing section. www.wholesalesports.com unfortunately - i have to work so i cant join you on the 1st or 2nd. a weekend might work after thanksgiving if the weather holds - i can drive and fit both without a problem, you get the tims lol hope that helps

holy sh@%$T!!! OMG that is really cool. very pretty -
looks like a rock cod to me also. except not as red. so where was she fishing, what was the bait, how deep and how far from shore? used to catch them off the dock in pender harbour. no one told me about catch and release when i was 6. they can stay alive in a bucket of water in the hot sun on a dock for hours. kinda boney, not much meat.

so which one was he??? cute. i liked it

I Guess I Have My Wife's Blessing For Tying This Winter..
ladystrange replied to birchy's topic in Fly Tying Bench
hell, i just spent 120.00 just on stuff i needed for tying beaded flies because someone decided the swap was all about beaded flies. initial investments $20.00, i loved it so much i went out and bought a bunch of stuff to make different kinds of beaded flies. they look really pretty. my estimate was just for hardware, books, tools, eyes and misc thread, chenielle, portible gear bag, boxes and thingy holders i get 99% of my fur and feathers from a taxidermist who gives it to me for free from his pile of cuttings. but if i had had to buy all of my fur and feathers, based on the size of the pieces. you could add on another $1000. hey i was just talking to someone about that last night, on my most recent road trip, i saw 2 raccoons on the road and started thinking... that would make an interesting fly pattern, except the hide is too thick to deal with. lol. i then thought to myself. bad though, not going there. -
i'm trying to double my chances... Exactly

ladystrange replied to birchy's topic in Fly Tying Bench
lucky boy, does she realize tying is addictive and you'll probably end up spending around $500 on a vice, tools and misc other supplies? i'm being conservative. if i added up all my tying things i easily have at least $1000 worth of stuff. but then again, i have been collecting supplies for years if i can find my box o'crap, i probably have a bunch of extra hair and such if you want some to get you started. is fly tying tuesdays a guy thing or a select few invities or is it an open thing? i'm always open to learning things and trying out new patterns. -
is she single?

nice birchy... lol how come black bears aren't only black? if polar bear hair isn't actually white but translucent and only looks white because it is absorbing all of the other colours and refracting the 'non' colour, why is every patch of polar bear hair in my fly tying crap yellowish? how come there arent any words in the english language that rhyme with 'orange' or 'silver'
