  1. I'm gonna guess. Gold tinsel Golden pheasant Hot pink chenille Magenta Polar chenille Orange saddle or schlappen. Not sure if there's a wing? Natural Mallard flank Jungle cock Orange ostrich
  2. Ya flies are the one thing I never leave in the car. So many hours and dollars tying. Sorry for your loss.
  3. Clean pebbles and eel grass are the best and Slack tides for Src and coho. Low slack was always better for me. As far as I know there are feeders around that area. So who knows, may find some Chinook. Don't have very in depth knowledge of that area. Tie up some heavy deceivers and bring a full sink and try the drop off ledges. Sportfishing bc with that mark Pendlington (spelling?) has done some episodes on deep water flyfishing for salmon. May want to see if you can't find those.
  4. I like to Swing for the moon and yell "there he is!" like an epoxy, you need parts a and b for it to work successfully.
  5. You're right, just skipping them in across the water on the 8 weight. 🙄 Ha I think we're basically the same thing. I said 6/7/8 and his 4 weight is Undergunned. Cheers dude
  6. Fair enough. But what happens is people try to get them on their dry, then put a nymph or a small streamer on. Now we're fighting a big bull on a cutthroat rod.
  7. Have you caught anything over 30". Probably not. Yes it's for the heavy tackle but you need the backbone to turn them. They just bull dog at the bottom Of the pool. If you're fishing a 4/5 weight noodle, you are going to exhaust the fish beyond what you would if you had a bigger stick.
  8. Not to rain on your parade, but That's not a good problem to have at all. That's how you exhaust and potentially kill an endangered species heading to spawn. I would have still sighed if you said 6 weight, but it's better. 7/8 weights are ideal for Bulls. Cheers
  9. Don't forget to use an appropriate rod.
  10. This is crazy talk. I have various rio on 7 or 8 rods and have never experienced that. Newest line is about a year old.
  11. Don't need to flush 30x the water down for over 24 hours to get rid of a couple dookies. I agree with the cube on this one.
  12. Was thinking the other day, if they don't want people driving out there, why not just dig out the ditch into the side channel that used to be there?
  13. Up to 50cms! Likely that and nose creek making the river below the city ugly.
  14. True but if you think of The "200 savings" and that they don't need to mention a name, I can't see it being a privacy issue.
  15. I'd just prefer getting a call with the outcome. Esp if the guy was a total d bag and the officer really let him have it.
  16. I don't know. I've always just done 45 down, mend and let it ride. I'd rather dead drift a seam. I typically swing where there's a natural greasiness to the water/upwelling current/tailoutish. That being said, sometimes I will dead drift the gut and then let it swing at the end of my drift. Those are the spots imo where a bug would be able to start acending. In a turbulent seam, I'd think they'd just be getting washed around. I'd like to hear what others say, though.
  17. Trout, how long would you estimate the larva were? Did you notice the adults being the dark wing variety or more of a pumpkin orange?
  18. Great little resource on the naturals, fly patterns and when/where to present each stage of the life cycle. http://www.west-fly-fishing.com/entomology/caddis/october.shtml
  19. Those are obviously theives that dumped that stuff there. Wouldn't expect anything less, really.
  20. Was thinking that they could be fluttering around in the next couple weeks given how early everything else has been
  21. Anyone have go to patterns for pupa and dry?
  22. There is a 9 foot 4 wt pro4x on sale at wholesale. I think it's 20 percent off. But I didn't ask.
  23. Hmm I've also heard other reports saying that some spots are hot one night and dead the next. That was also my experience this week. Where I was had absolutely no bird activity other than the odd swallow over the riffles between 1 and 5. Suppose I was in the wrong spot or didn't wait long enough. I've been out 1-1030 for the two nights previous and was clearly losing my mojo.
