    The Big One

Some very practical and helpful advice MTB! You are definetly one of the best reasons for any fly fisher to join this forum and you should give yourself a big pat on the back. Your wisdom is a great asset to all of us and your willingness to share it with others tells me you have a very unique and desirable character (I don't mean that in a gay way ). Thanks!
  3. I can take care of this for you. PM me with the details.
  4. Ya know I prefer rubber legs as well. They seem to reduce the possibility of the boatman rotating when stripping. I am now tying all my boatman with rubber legs in both black and olive.
  5. No false casts, straight and deep... I would say very practical.
  6. The design of the outcast fishcat and fatcats is revolutionary. They move through the water much much better than the tube style ones. In addition you sit out of the water keeping you warmer and higher for longer casts. What ever you do don't by the tube style ones. Have a fatcat now and will never sit in another tube style again!
  7. Yeah I have tied them with beads however I prefer to use the bead head versions in running water only.
  8. Good looking ties there Din! The only thing I would suggest is getting the body of the boatman a little fuller, and try to get the legs to stick out a touch more. I find if you dont they tend to move back along the body after its fished for a while. If the biots are facing concave into the body they seem to spread better.
  9. Thanks Rick but it just wasnt in the cards. At least I got to look forward to it for a couple months!
  10. Simply amazing Brett. Like salt to a painful wound this was to me LOL. I should have put my kids in an orphanage (temporarily ) just to make it!
  11. Negative...much much further north.
  12. Nice still water rainbow! Love the chunky ones... fish that is.
  13. Sure. I was using full floating line with a 12 foot leader and was floating very slowly about 70 feet from shore. I used a single small bb about 2 feet up from the boatman (to keep the fly's pitch level and moving up and down slightly). I cast to the bank and every couple seconds make a 4 or 6 inch strip. Was drawing brutal strikes. I am sure there are hundreds of other effective techniques.. this is just mine.
  14. Answer: Yeah it caught plenty of fish. Answer: Trailing bubbles, pooping lightning... doesn't matter as long as they keep catching these guys as good as there were on Saturday:
  15. Ill answer this on Sunday .
  16. Here's my favorite boatman pattern thus far: Body: Olive + natural hares dubbing Casing (under): Pheasant tail fibers (dark) Casing (over) : Clear thinskin Legs: black biots Tail: 4 strands pearl flash Tail (shank): silver ribbon Thread: Black
  17. I really like the look of this cdc caddis. I will certainly be tying some of these up! Thanks for the link.

  23. Just thought I would share this link to a new video that Country Pleasures has added to their website. It has some really cool fly fishing action for bonefish and a tarpon that got my motor running. I was blown away by the speed that the first bonefish exhibits on its first run. Oh and that tarpon would be pretty cool on a fly as well ! Country Pleasures - Fly Fishing the Jardines
  24. Be glad you bought a SAGE! They will replace it just as Rusty said.
  25. Welcome to our little group o fly tossers.
