  1. Just checked country pleasures fly shop website again Greg and it says that the Orvis Helios will be available November 15th, 4 through 10 weights.
  2. Sharkskin is already on Country Pleasures shelfs. And I know they are getting Helios soon. I'm goona demo one of those helios when they do. Thanks for the reviews! Oh, and I also watch the show. Keep up the good work.
  3. Some really great pictures there. That hail is huge! My mother's neighbor was fishing with a buddy this summer when a hail storm, with hail that size, came down and killed his friend when he was struck in the head and drown up in Fort Macmurray. True story.
  4. I seriously hope they crank it up as long as it helps provide a better environment for natural, and stocked bodies of water. Like everyone here fly fishing is my passion, and I would not be opposed to paying hundreds of dollars per year to see this happen.
  5. I have wondered why ponds stocked by government bodies are usually not aerated. It seems to me with our cold winters, it would be a good idea to have at least a windmill style aerators at each location. Wouldnt this help produce larger, healthier fish and generate more interest from the public? What are you guy's thought on aeration? Should it be something that every public stocked body of water should have? I for one would pay much much more for an annual angling license to see this happen. I think the current price is much to cheap. Personally, I would like to see resident licenses cost between 50 and 100 dollars for a year and perhaps 25 for 3 months or something as long as we see an increase in fish size/life-span, population, and availability.
  6. Tied up a half dozen of those Oliver Edward shrimp and suspended them under a strike indicator today about 1 foot from bottom. let the wind and waves do the work and caught plenty of nice rainbows, including the one below in rapid succession. Man I lub Oliver E!
  7. This is exactly why I started this thread! I absolutely love this pattern. Oliver E is one of my favorite tiers. I cant believe I didn't google his name with "scud" or "shrimp" in the parameter. Thanks for this reply!
  8. Thank you very much for the reply. I especially like the use of red wire and thread on some of those patterns. I am goona pick some up and make some for myself.
  9. Hey guys. I am looking for some really good scud patterns and would love to see some of the members favorite scuds. Here's one of mine. Thread: olive Body: olive Ice Dub Shell: transparent thinskin rib: medium gold tail/antenna: olive hares mask
  10. I get the odd line burn in the same place when still fishing at times. Stripping the streamers, then stripping on a take does it for me.
  11. It's a tiny registration to get started. All channels are free, but I'm not sure if you can view them without the software.
  12. Been watching the development of Joost software for a couple of years now. The public beta is now available! Its a tv client that allows you to watch tv on your PC for free. Some pretty good content too I must add. Enjoy kiddies: Joost PC TV
  13. Pretty sure they are going to start rebuilding policeman's flats boat launch. There are survey stakes all over there now labeled "Boat Launch start" and such.
  14. Wanted to share a link to this video of Paul Potts who was selling cell phones before he appeared on the Britain's got Talent show. He literally swept the competition, winning it all, and rightly so. This guy blew me away. It's amazing when someone like this comes along. Gives me hope that although the worlds a messed up place there are still individuals who can bring light to this world. Oh, and the female judge isn't to hard to look at either
  15. Been running Firefox for years and only use IE for cross browser testing purposes. Have never got a virus from malicious web scripting since. The developers tools addon are awesome btw.
  16. As much as I hate to admit it I think steelhead is right about this one. I have decided to stop using more than one hook to avoid this. I am sure that anyone here who uses more than one fly 18 inches or less from another fly can attest to body hooking a fish on many outings (common be honest now ). I wouldn't however use words to describe this method of fly fishing as butchers or pickerel rigs .
  17. Here's a pattern that I made that I'm sure others have made as well that works very well for me. Caught over 20 nice ones on Sunday on it. Easy to tie as well. Golden Caddis Larvae Hook - larvae # 14 Thread - Black Body - Golden Pheasant Tail Rib - Medium Gold Tail - Golden Pheasnt Tail Head - Peacock Herl (1 strand)
  18. I found Mckinnon a little difficult to fish the first couple of times out mostly because I had to cast over my left shoulder, or use a reverse water load for a proper upstream cast in most places. That said, out off all the places I have fished on the Bow, Mckinnon seemed to provide the most fish. Has anyone else been having trouble catching down there recently?
  19. Yeah this is the way I take also. Another indicator is you pass under the large power lines/towers for the second time just before you turn south (right) on 274.
  20. Waste of a day with no 26 incher... man I could only wish to fish half as good as you. Every day is a great day for me even if I get skunked .
  21. I have to agree with you MTB. I have only fished the bow about 8 or 10 times since spring and have caught fish over 20 inches each outing all on nymphs and dries no larger than size 14. Most times I'm throwing size 16 or smaller. I even had my best day ever this spring with 5 large browns taken in one day with my biggest ever at 27 inches (taped) all on size 16 caddis larvae I tied. Learning the river, the feeding patterns, and proper presentations is what has made all the difference for me regarding the number, and size of fish hooked. I do throw large streamers at times (especially in still waters) but do not find I catch larger, nor more trout.
